What kind of coconut oil do you buy?? Fanny has a small area of dry skin on her chest I would like to try it

Thanks someone tagged me on Facebook with the news report so I assume its surfacing again

Well I mean I work for a vet that uses it but thats was quite scary to read about. I honestly dont believe everything u find online or in the news that's why I wanted to see if anyone has heard anything different

Did anyone see the recent news report on Trifexis that has killed more than 700 dogs. Had any one heard if this is a true story or a fake. I'm concern because I just put my dog on this. After seeing this I'm thinking about going back to heartgard or triheart. Any thoughts?

As a LVT of 13 yrs--gotta tell ya--I have seen them--one of my own hounds had one from a jug stick (e-vet). Clotting panel normal.
Really!!!?? I have had numerous greyhounds and have never seen anything like this. I was shocked when I saw the photo. Now Ive seen your typical small little small hematomas but nothing this big since Ive started working in veterinary medicine, except on a dog that had got into rat poision. That is for sure new to me. I guess there is a first for everything.

From personal experience and being a registered veterinary technician hematomas happen even when the proper technique is used. Now in my 9 years of working as a technician in the veterinary profession I have never seen a dog or even greyhound bleed like that following a blood draw and I have worked ER and general practice. I would be more concerned about a clotting issue. At least from the photo that was posted.

Welcome hes a handsome boy!! Congrats!

I brush my dogs teeth twice weekly. Plus I give her CET chews. She is also only 2 so her teeth are near perfect. But it helps to keep her teeth nice

My girl does this. I have never had a greyhound that did this. She usually does this when she's super excited

I remember having to vet wrap and cast padding on my last greyhounds tail when she injured it. It took forever to heal and she hated having it wrapped.

Prayers for Pepper Hopefully nothing bad.

Im personally to scared to let my dog off leash unless its a fenced area
-
I have one that has needed lots of help getting settled in. I would like a second greyhound but Im going to let my cats get use to the first one for a while before adopting a second.

Most of the dogs I have had in the past have had low to moderate pray drive. Indoors they are content but when outdoors with bunnies and other wild life like birds the prey drive would definitely increase.
-
I think it would be interesting to setup video cameras in the house during the day to see what they actually do when ur not home. My girl is alone for 10 hrs today we will see what happens. Hopefully nothing.

Hes very handsome!! Congrats

I thought most rescue wanted/required a fence for greyhounds with a height of at least 6 ft? I have neighbors that have non-greyhounds and the dogs have jumped over the 4-5ft fences.

Has anyone had luck with using the d.a.p collar or the wall plug ins for S.A with their dogs? My dog suffers from S.A and seems to do better out of the crate with muzzle on but I was going to try the d.a.p with the muzzle at first and then try without. Any experience with this working?? I have heard mix reviews from others.

I have a greyhound that is having similar problems plus I also have 2 cats. She kept bending the crate door in addition to urinating and defecating in there. So now we leave her out during the day with muzzle on and she is so much better. I may also at some point try the d.a.p collar is what we recommend and the vet hospital I work at for moderate to severe separation aniexty which seems to also help

So I assume coconut oil is ok for them to eat as well and can be used like fish oils and fatty acids? I have never given it before. Are there any benefits of using this over fish oils?
