Nice photos! I can't believe how good your dogs are, no space issues there at all Enjoy the scenery while it lasts, Texas is going to be really boring, plus that is when people start talking funny...ah, road trips......

I use the Bed Head products myself. I was in PetSmart and saw they have "Pet Head" made by Bed Head for dogs and cats. Has anyone tried them? I'm very careful about what I use on my greys.
They have shampoo, conditioner, waterless shampoo and some other stuff.
You know, there is probably no reason you can't just share your shampoo with the pups......unless they have a special skin condition of course.....

Lucy, I have been in a similar spot just a few weeks ago, I took Darla to the vet though, I had the same concerns you had about having the last moments in my home. It doesn't matter if your house is small or large, a sensitive soul such as yours will always...well, you know it will enter your mind anytime you see that part of the house. Darla was not too freaked out about going to the vet, but either way you take Riley in if needed for other visits, even if he is scared, this time will be no different, and the first injection will put him at ease quickly; wait in the car until they are ready for you, distract him with yummy treats, he will be ok. I too experienced this for the first time, and my vet and vet tech were really good about explaining what to expect, they told me some dogs will sound like they are gasping for breath, but it's just a reflex, they are in no distress, like someone else mentioned, some let go of their bowels or pee, but not all do.
Darla was shaking and panting at home, and at the vets, because she was in pain, so when that shot took effect, she relaxed, and I could feel her relief. She had refused to lie down on the blanket, so I held her and talked to her, the vet tech held her back end, and we slowly eased her to the floor once she relaxed. Everyone reacts different, it's ok to cry, have a friend with you if want, I wanted to be by myself, and I went to work afterwards, to have a distraction, and because I could not go back home right away, do what feels right for you. Riley is a lucky boy to have you for his mommy, I know it sucks having to be the grown-up....

He is fine now, he was back to normal just minutes later, so I guess it really was just a cramp. Never seen this in a dog before, so it had me baffeled....

He is sacked out now But just in case I gave him a banana...yes, I've had cramps in my legs and they made me act just like that, except for the licking

A few minutes ago, Spud, who was napping behind my chair in the office, suddenly jumped up, one hind leg at a weird angle, held away from his body, he is jumping on three legs in circles, the affected leg is shaking like crazy. Then, he laid down on a dog bed and licked that leg feverishly, and now, just minutes later, he is fine. Scared the cr** out of me, and him too. What's up with this? Could it have been a cramp in his leg?

Awwwe, that is quite the hole there Whitey!

Spud, nicknamed "Swiss Cheese" because he has another cut or scrape nearly once a week now gets treated with EMTGel spray, it seals the wound and helps it heal, it also has a bitter taste to discourage licking. Hard to find locally unless you have a Tractor Supply Co. nearby, I ordered it online.

Sometimes the seniors, especially girls can't hold it so well anymore, when they have to go, they have to go NOW. That's when rugs get replaced with washable, rubber backed rugs, if there is an accident throw it in the washer, or as others suggested, close the door to that room. If the gypsies even want him, I would try offering DBF up to them, maybe ask less than $5 though.....
