Loving thoughts and well wishes going out to Lazer and to you!

I give salmon oil to both of mine - it makes their coats feel like silk and I have read it is good for their joints. I started with the pump kind, but it was kind of stinky and expensive - now I buy human grade norwegian salmon oil from vitacost.com in soft gel form and give them 2 per day. I just mix the soft gel in their food and they have never left it behind in their bowls.

OMG! The COSTCO chicken and rice gave my grey, Elliott, terrible gas. Since he was our first, we thought it was just something we had to live with. Someone suggested we change the protein source, so we switched him to Costco Lamb - things improved imediately. COSTCO chicken jerky treats also make him gassy, although cooked chicken at home seems to be ok with his tummy.
Good luck!

Our male grey, Elliott, is a universal donor - the vet says about 70 percent of greyhounds are. Our female, Lea, was a brood mama -- for some reason that disqualifies her. Elliott donates blood every 3 months at VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists Bloodbank in Clackamas, Oregon. The doctor, Heidi, and her assistant, Jenny, are great with both of our dogs (Lea always comes along for moral support) and give them both all kinds of yummy treats afterwards. Both dogs get waggy-tailed and excited when they go. We are proud that Elliott can help other dogs, possibly even save their lives. We also are grateful that he gets his heart worm medication at no charge and gets a brief physical every time he gives blood.

Did the vet say whether this could have been an old injury? If so,I wonder if it might have occured during his racing career - maybe sand from the track lodging in the eye, or inadvertantly rubbed in?
