  1. Honestly, I don't think it's abnormal for the effects to last for a few days. After the fourth, one of my girls is always a little off. She doesn't want to go out after dark, she stops in an open doorway and scouts out the scene before leaving the house, and she sleeps in a little cave cubby that I make for her in my bedroom closet. Within a week or two, these behaviors dwindle and she goes back to normal. I think it's absolutely possible that Lola could have felt the effects of her reaction for a couple of days. I hope these same neighbors don't bust out more fireworks for other unusual holidays.

  2. I agree with what PatricksMom wrote. It really does sound like you're doing all of the right things. With both of my black girls, it took a few months to really get their coats and skin to where I wanted them to be. Ever since, they have both developed very glossy, gorgeous coats, and haven't had issues with dandruff. I didn't rub anything onto their skin, but I did add fish oil to their food. That seemed to be enough.

  3. Happy tail update. These past two weeks have been a labor of love, but we're finally seeing some progress! While it was easy to keep it bandaged at night, daytime has been nearly impossible. So, I've been keeping it clean, applying neosporin, and have tried my best to keep Luna from careening around the house like a lunatic.

The wound itself has steadily been shrinking, with some scar tissue around the edges. She is also building up a scab over what is left.

Thank you all again for your happy tail tips! You've been most helpful.

Here's an updated photo of her tail:
