    Oscar

I have a lot on my phone. I just have to figure out how to get them on here. Thank you everyone. Our whole house seems so different without him here.

    Oscar

Oscar has crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. Not sure what caused it. I do know the past two days he has been in pain no matter what we did. Took him to the vet and they could not find what was wrong. He never got back to 100% after his illness last year. He now is running and playing with no pain. I will always love you Oscar. I am sorry that we could not do more.
  3. He seems to be moving a bit better today. I was looking at his paper work and just realized that he is 9!!!!! OMG where has the time gone. I am thinking that maybe the heat was getting to him. It has cooled a little today. Thank you everyone for the good thoughts and generosity of love for my baby boy. You all are truly loving friends.
  4. It has definitely been a while. Oscar was doing great till yesterday. He is back to dragging his back leg and panting a bit. Of course our AC decided to break last week and just waiting on a part to come in so they can fix it. Oscar is resting comfortably right now on my quilt and an ice pack.
  5. Beautiful! Looks like she is settling in nicely.
  6. where is the picture of the beautiful hound????
  7. Not too far. Only about 45 minutes to an hour. I will give her a call tomorrow. Oscar seems to be doing good right now. So hopefully he is on the mend.
  8. When he was in last urine was fine and so was his blood pressure. They didn't mention anything about a stroke.
  9. I came home from work and he was jumping to see me. So I am thinking he is okay right now. Finally got a call back from the vet, his thyroid was within normal range for a greyhound. I am now thinking it may have been the drastic weather change we just had. It went from a comfortable mid60s to mid30s. Thoughts?
  10. Oscar was his old self for about a month and a half. Now he is sick again with what looks to be the same issues. I don't know what to do . His back end seems to be weak and he panting quite a bit. His nose is still wet so I know he is at least hydrated and will eat and drink. He is only 8 years old I don't want to say good bye.
  11. Oscar got his tail caught in our backdoor and it chopped of 2 inches and skinned another 2 inches. They ended up having to cut 3inches of it to get it where they could stitch it.
  12. Oscar is doing a little better. He can get up and I can get him to slowly go outside. His back left paw turns under and it takes a lot of conscious effort on his part to right it, so his walk is very unsteady. But things are looking up.
  13. The kids and I just went to visit Oscar. The vet said that this morning he stood up and walked a little. He is still very unsteady but it is a good sign that he stood and moved on his own. I got to give him his afternoon meal while we were there and he ate it all up. He did poop in his crate this morning and they have a catheter in him which I saw a half filled bag. So it looks promising. Thank you all so much for your support!! I was and still am one scared greyhound momma.
  14. They did say it could be FCE. So glad to hear that it can clear up in a few days to a week. I am just so scared that it could be the other diagnosis. Thank you everyone for the prayers and comfort.
  15. Had to take Oscar to the vet this morning. Last night he could not walk and was really unsteady on his feet. I called the vet and they suggested bringing him in this morning. Carried my 70pound boy in and they did blood work and x-rays and they could not find anything wrong and suggested that I take him to the vet hospital. So the hospital is keeping him for 48 hour observation. They think it is something neurological, either embolyism(?), brain cancer or tumor. They want to rule out the first one before they do a cat-scan or MRI since that is so expensive. I don't know what to do. If it is cancer or tumor, I don't know how we will afford it. I just hope he is ok. My daughter is an absolute mess and did not want to leave him there.
  16. Is there anyone in the El Paso TX area that can pet sit my three?
  17. All three of mine are free fed out of one big feeder. We also feed the same pedigree brand. The greyhounds have no issues sharing. Chico is crated at night and when we are at work so the Greys have free access to the food while he is crated. We have had no issues with this arrangement either.
  18. At first glance I thought this said "Can it be the food or the WOMEN?" and I expected there to be a cute picture.
  19. I was out in the country at my dad's house with Oscar and he went exploring in the pasture and came upon a bee hive. He came charging at us covered in bees. I pulled out 30 stingers off him, 10 off my dad, and there were four on me. He was very sore for a couple of days and we did a benedryl regime for about 4 days at the advise of a vet. But other than that he now has a fear of barrels and many things that buzz.
  20. Gable Dodge is Oscar and Darla's grandpaw
  21. I usually just say GENTLE and mine will very daintly take what ever I am offering. It is hillarious to see our big Catahoula Chico do this, because he is really rambunctious, grabs and destroys toys. But you say gentle he slows down and every so slightly opens his mouth just big enough to take what you are offering.
  22. I will definitely bring it up at our appointment. She doesn't seem different and I probably wouldn't have noticed it if she didn't look up at that certain time. Thank you guys for the support. I feel better about it all now.
