  1. Sounds like we should have some of this in our doggy first aid kit. Has anyone seen it in a store in Canada, or would I need to order it on-line?
  2. So sad. Way to young to die. My condolences to Lauri's family.
  3. Wilbur looks amazing, especially if those are recent photos. Our Brogan is nearly as grey and she's not yet four. I especially liked the recliner shot - very talented boy.
  4. Very cute little land sharks they are indeed. And synchronized, too: Congrats! Kathy
  5. Thanks Aimee. Gator-jaws is wolfing down a treat as we speak... not that his pain was preventing him from leaping up for food before, but it's nice know he's more comfortable now. Kathy
  6. Riley has had chiropractic adjustments when we first got him, and it provided at least temporary relief. We have an opportunity to see a chiropractor at a greyhound event this coming weekend. The local group we got both Riley and Brogan from has an annual half marathon/fun run, and this year a local chiropractor is offering adjustments for hounds and people in exchange for a donation to the group. Think we just might do the drive to the event. If it helps him at all the chiropractor's office is very close to where we live.
  7. I did ice the general area last night - didn't seem to help much, but then, I'm not sure exactly where the problem starts from. Kathy
  8. Hi all, Last night when I got home from work I noticed Riley was limping again. He's had a number of anti-inflam shots in the 3 1/2 years we've had him as he's always had issues with his back right leg since he was retired, but yesterday's limp was the worst I've seen yet. When I gently felt around his hip and leg he actually cried out, and he was doing his best to not put any weight on the bum leg. First the good news... we took him to the vet today for another X-ray (he had one earlier this year during his dental) - still no sign of any problems with his bones. But we were sent home with some Rimadyl (2x daily for 7 days and once daily for 14) and we're to restrict his exercise during this time as well. The vet thinks it might be a muscle tear, and suggested referring him to an orthopedic vet and possibly have an ultrasound done. Anyone have any experience with this type of injury? Thoughts? Suggestions? Please keep our otherwise perfect, sweet boy in your thoughts. Kathy
  9. Thanks for the welcomes. Brogan was fine today and she and Riley and I all piled into the car for a day at a friends cottage. Beautiful weather. Sadly I didn't think to bring my camera - could have got some great shots. Another friend brought her lab cross which helped Brogan and Riley look like angels. Just put some beds on the floor and down they flop. No kittehs in sight so even Brogan was an angel. Went for a walk with the group and we were charged at by two small white fluffy dogs from another cottage. Riley and Brogan hardly noticed them despite the charging and barking. The lady looking after them asked what kind of dogs R&B are, admiring how calm they were - the dogs belong to her mother - she said she would never get a barky little dog.
  10. Hi all, Introducing myself here, finally. Hubby (wpgkeith) will say it's about time. My name's Kathy and I am a GT lurker from Canada. Having said that, Keith posts enough for both of us, so you might not see many posts from me, but I thought it might be useful to have my own identity for days like today, when poor Brogan got bit by something which caused her face to swell up and make her look like a Bull Terrier. I might have needed to post something in Health and Medical. I gave her a Benedryl like I read there before, and off to the vet we went. She's resting comfortably now. That said, thanks for being there Greytalkers! Kathy
  11. This happened to Brogan today as well. I had taken the pups for a run in a local grassed in hockey rink to tire them out so I could go golfing this afternoon, and so when I got home and removed her muzzled I freaked out. Poor thing's face was swollen up so bad she was starting to look like a Bull Terrier! Her eyes were bugged out and almost swollen shut. I fed her a Benedryl and took her in to our vet, who luckily hadn't closed for the day and could see her. She also received a steroid shot at the vet and I have instructions to re-administer the Benedryl as needed, and just let her rest. Her face is coming back to normal now, she's just a little puffy at the end of her muzzle. Another vote of thanks for Benedryl! Kathy
