I heard a sound a little after 2 this morning. I rushed to the door because a year nearly to this day, we found Sabu, one of our cats, dead from a heart attack when a dog attempted to maul her. Unbelievably, when I opened the door early this morning, I heard a dog growling and what looked to be a rag doll. It was standing over one of Sabu's daughters in the driveway. It ran away when I opened the door, Emmy was gone. Dead in the driveway. She, like her mother, had been killed on the last Saturday of February.
How could this have happened, again???
Sabu was a little stray who'd given birth after her first heat. She'd had 2 girls and a boy and had hid them from us. We gave Blue Boy away and had kept M & M (Emmy) and Cindy. For outside cats, they all had long lives--at least to age 15. Thank God, Cindy is the most shy of them all and at night, tends to stay inside of the shed (and, thus, away from where a dog could be.) Emmy would sleep in her little house in the carport. The dog must've dragged her out.
I am simply heartbroken.
