Greetings from Gainesville, Florida! Heath is gorgeous! When we adopted Toby, he insisted on getting up every morning at 6:00 a.m., which was fine for weekdays, but not weekends. Somehow we've recently gotten into a routine where he is letting us sleep til about 8:00 a.m. on weekends, for which we are truly grateful!

Greetings from Gainesville, FL! I love your IG pictures. I used to have an IG; she passed away 12 years ago. We loved her so much! We now have a 10 yr old whippet and adopted a GH 3 months ago. By far, our IG was the most active and high strung of the bunch that we've had. She was also the only one who had any type of "watchdog gene" in her (even though she weighed about 10 lbs!) and would actually bark like a madwoman if someone was in our yard or knocked on the door! Our whippet and GH get along great. I think that our GH thinks that our whippet is a GH, too! As far as housetraining goes, our GH was MUCH easier to housetrain than either the whippet or the IG. He came to us straight from a kennel at a track, so he'd never been housetrained per se. We used the belly wraps for 2 days and after that, he got the hang of where he was and wasn't supposed to go, and that was it. We felt very lucky that it was so easy!

I agree with giving his stomach a chance to calm down. When we adopted Toby they told me to expect runny poops for the first week or two as he adjusted to living in a home (we got him straight from a GPA Kennel at a dog track). However, the 2 weeks came and went, still his poops were mushy/runny. I had to try a variety of foods before I found one that worked for him. I tried Nutro, Pro Pac, Pro Pac Holistic, and Biljac with no luck. Finally I tried Science Diet Sensitive Stomach. Not only did that firm up the poops, it completely eliminated the gas. And Toby is able to handle treats now with no digestive problems, either. So my advice would be to give him some time to get used to his new surroundings, and then go from there. And Congratulations on Dutch!!!
