That is so sweet. Thanks for sharing. While I have not lost a pup, it is good to hear that the pain can be replaced with fond memories.

Words fail. I have been following your threads and so wished for another outcome. I am so sorry.

I am so sorry to read this. Hopefully, the proposed changes will help. Paws crossed here!

Our rabies shots are good for 3 years. Not sure about the time frame for distemper though. Sounds like they accidently switched the due dates?

If it helps, the one time one of my grey's got into chocolate kisses, I did the hydrogen peroxide trick and tossed him outside. My son went out with him. As soon as Dante started to yack up the colorful chocolate, my son leaned over and yacked in sympathy! It was a sight to behold. Thank goodness it was below freezing that night - that was a fun clean up job! I am glad to hear that Brooke and your child are both better!

How so very special. What a wonderful tribute from your sister. Little Heep will always have something to look at, too.

Our second grey was really shy. She was a bounce for other reasons and those probably caused (or contributed to it. She wouldn't come out of the crate, wouldn't eat if anyone even looked at her, wouldn't walk on a leash, nada. She also had space aggression, sleep aggression, resource guarding and was a fear biter. (Makes me wonder why we ever took her! ) 2.5 years later, she is a total LOVE - in our home and around our neighborhood. I took her to her first greyhound awareness venue this weekend and she shook for over an hour. Wanted attention from strangers but just quivered constantly. Wouldn't even eat a cookie. By the time we were leaving, though, she did eat one. As for the other shy greyhound, we don't have him yet - but are waiting for THE vet visit, etc. We are taking him because he is so shy - they have to drag him from the kennel to even go outside. However, he totally responds to my daughter and we are confident that if we could make the first one relax and stop all her bad habits, then he should be easier or at least we have the experience with all the other issues! I must admit though, I love getting them straight from the track and watching them develop and I love watching the personalities emerge from the shy ones.

Words are just so inadequate at times like these. I have never met you or Bodie, but your tribute was wonderful and really touched me. Peace to you and your family. May he send you a sign.

I am so very sorry to read this. It was so obvious how deeply he was loved by you and your family. I always enjoyed his editoral comments and will miss them. I hope that you can find some comfort knowing how his life and passing has affected so many around the world. May he be at peace.

Last February, a blood panel was run on Dante. The vet was concerned that the liver values were higher than before and too high for her taste. His dental was postponed. I put him on Milk Thistle and the values reduced, but I don't know by how much or what the actual values were. Now, during his check up, she noted a 2-3 heart murmur. That wasn't present in February/March. I was reading another post and someone asked if TBD's had been checked when the pup had high bilirubin. Before I call my vet to ask if these panels had been run or if TBDs could be in the differential, can I get some ideas of what I should be looking for? He is 8 YO, but looks and feels good. My vet thinks that she is more greyhound saavy than she actually is, so I usually need to go in there knowing more than she might. Any suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! (BTW, I am in the process of finding a better vet for my furkids.)

Sometimes Dante looks a little chapped - reddish, but the skin is dry and unbroken - under his arms. It happens when his harness or coat is not adjust right and seems to rub when we are out. It never bled though.

I am so sorry. How I love the black boys! Sympathy to you and yours.

Found A Way To Get Riley's Meloxicam For Almost Free!

at our Walmart, Meloxicam is a 4.00 script and you can fill it for your dog. Indy gets his prozac and flagyl this way. I actually can get 90 days (90 pills) for 10.00! The script is written out to "Indy" and is filled that way. It has saved us a ton of money, too, since doggie prozac (reconcile) cost me a ton getting it filled by the vet.
