  1. You don't need a prescription for Zylkene in the UK and it's a lot cheaper if you don't buy it through your vet. I started using it a few weeks ago for fireworks season, along with Skullcap and Valerian tablets, but I also have valium from the vet for when things get really bad, as Zylkene and the herbal tablets alone aren't enough.

  2. He looks great. Time to scale back so he doesn't gain more but I don't see a need to take weight off.

Exactly what I was thinking. You can see the tip of his hipbones and a hint of his last few ribs and he has plenty of muscle. Too many people are obsessed with their greys being rail thin imo.

  3. Unless you're using an environmentally friendly fabric conditioner, it probably has a lot of toxins in so not really a good idea to use for her bed. Also agree with Susan re the smell - must be like torture for dogs with their sensitive noses. The weeing does sound like it could be hormone-related incontinence to me. My girl had the same issue and, as I mentioned in another thread, I give her Sage Leaf capsules as I didn't want to use the veterinary drugs, and no more incontinence for many months now.

  4. Thanks! This is the other one I was thinking of, but couldn't find a reference to. I'll look into all of the suggestions.

Not sure yet whether I want something I can leave on or something sturdier. Right now it's just potty trips and walks, typically 3x/day so I wouldn't mind on/off, but there are evenings when he drinks a lot and asks to go out extra times again lately so at least leaving it on in the evenings might be nice. He wouldn't have to wear it all day or overnight.

I have one of Carol Becker's for my boy. I do really like it for supporting him up and down the ramp in our garden, but he refuses to wear it in the house - just won't lie down with it on and gets really upset until I take it off. My girl doesn't like to wear it either because she's funny about things around her waist. I also have the Ruffwear, which my girl is very happy to wear when needed, and which I feel enables more support but imo is too bulky to be left on in the house. Very different harnesses, but each useful in its own way.
