  1. You have all my thoughts and prayers for your precious Cash. I paid for the biopsy tests on my Izzy to speed the diagnosis. He responded well to the treatment at first. It was an amazing transformation. Go for it, it does not really bother the pups too much. The shaved spots bothered Izzy more than the biopsy sites. If Izzy had been starved before I got him and had damage to his liver and kidneys already. I would still have him today if not for that damage when this disease reared it's ugly head the second time, he just had nothing left to fight with. Your Cash hopefully does not have the challenges that Izzy had.

If you can afford the biopsy, it is the best way to find out and treat the disease quickly.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. It is so hard to write this right now. But somehow it is healing also.

Izzy took a turn for the worse yesterday, continued to getworse through the night.

We took him to the vet this morning, and discovered that theImmune Mediated Polymyositis was back and this time it took his liver withit. We had escaped the damage last week, but not this time. Izzy now walks painfree, proud and gracious over the rainbow bridge. He will never again be afraid ofthunderstorms. He will smile and playwith every stuffie he can find now.

  6. I have been researching how to make homemade treats, and things for my pups when they are recovering from illness. I know that there are experts out there that have cracked the nutritional aspects, and would like to ask them to share. I have seen recipies for pedialite, low salt treats, chicken and rice etc. But there does not seem to be anywhere that they are all together. And some that I have seen in the past, seems to have disappeared. Can everyone share there special recipies that they have come up with to help our houndies????

    Sherrie,

    slave to Secret and Izzy

going to be spending more time in the kitchen

  7. Queston for the experienced houndie owners,

Since prior to our Kendra's death, Secret has been starting to avoid eating when hubby feeds her breakfast. Kendra was doing it rarely(not feeling too well). Then when Kendra died, Secret has avoided her dish until I get up and tell her it is OK. My husband gets up at O dark thirty, and I prefer to sleep in, and takes the hounds on their morning walkie. (Both retired). Hubby, has not changed anything. He gets their food, puts it in their bowl, and adds the salmon oil. Even if he gives it a stir and make a big deal over breakfast, Secret will not touch it until I get out of bed and swish her bowl and tell her to eat. Sometimes this will be at least an hour or two. We have had a foster in the house for several weeks now, and he has picked up the same habit as Secret. Hubby can feed them their yogurt snack at 7PM, and they bug him until he gets it for them. And he can feed them their afternoon dinner at 4PM no problem. Just breakfast is getting the special treatment.

    Any suggestions??????????????

  8. You might try, your husband being the sole person to feed, change her water, brush her etc.

Have him move slowly, while talking to Sookie and taking care of her. My husband is also extremely tall and big with a voice to match. He lies on the floor and talks to our spooky foster, letting her come and go as she will. He gives her tidbits of treats (very smelly ones) as she comes close to him, rewarding her without being on top of her.

Sookie will come around with time. Good luck and keep us posted.

  9. Kendra's pain escalated last night to the point that she was screaming when she moved. I begged Texas A&M vet school ER to let us bring her to them. They agreed.

It took 2 shots of morphine to calm her, and when the tests were done, it was the worst possible diagnosis. A soft cell tumor on the nerve bundle under her shoulderblade.

We let her go at 3:30AM this morning.

Run free my sweet princess. Fly with the angels over the bridge.

Love your momma and daddy, and your sister Secret.
