This is such a kind service you give every year Ducky, thank you.

Do you know why she's on each of these medications? That's a lot, and the risk of a rare side effect or an unexpected negative interaction go way up with that many medications.

Pretty much a standard obedience class--if one was available we would be taking it because of Leo's fear aggression with non-greyhounds, not for any particular training difference.

Thank you again for her Gideon, she was indeed a special little soul.

Geez, I'm talking about being able to take one to the vet or a walk (Xavi loves going for walks, Iker hates them) without worrying about my neighbour complaining about the other howling, not keeping them in separate houses
This, Leo wasn't traumatized (that we know) but he is extremely anxious and does not do well left without Henry, and sometimes you do have to take one dog to the vet. Imo, it's better to gently prepare them than to have to deal with one freaked out dog while you're also dealing with a medical emergency in the other.

I'm so glad to hear she's improving, but my heart goes out to you. I've had to leave a boy behind in ICU under similar circumstances, even knowning he had the best of all possible care, it was heart rending. And the slow pace of progress is so hard too, all I can do is hold all of you in the light.

Sending good thoughts to Doodles and you.

Another way to watch for infection is pay careful attention to the wound smell.

Thank you! I know the HP is not the best but the only thing I had. I'll keep this suggestion in mind when I'm at the store again.
In a pinch, a warm epsom salt solution is actually really good for cleaning, better if you can soak the wound. For a small scrape like that, even plain water would let you clean it up enough to get a good look a it.

Going against the grain here --if these nails are as long as described I would cut to the chase and make an appointment with your vet to have a tight sedation admin and have them cut the nails back. Less stress on your hound and then you will be able to keep up with them weekly.
We did this, I was nervous about it, but it really helped and Leo had no trouble with being sedated. We've made so much progress with Leo letting him handle his feet since they ground them back as far as possible. I would suggest pain extra to have them dremel if possible, because they can safely go further.

Was it Riley's mom who flew trans-Atlantic with an emotional support iggy--does anyone remember? Whoever it was, she was really nervous ahead of time and had a really great experience in the end and her fellow passengers loved her dog.

Yes it's routinely done. I have no idea if it's official policy, because the branch of the group I deal with in my area tends to do things their own way. I can't remember exactly what was and wasn't included, but it's not as full a panel in terms of liver values, I think, as I like, so I run another one once they're settled in to have as a benchmark for later.

Update,
I took Kota to the Vet, and he had blood, urine, and fecal work done. They found bacteria in the urine and did some more testing, and found that a lot of his chemical (not sure which) levels in his kidneys were high, so they put him on medication. We started going on long runs three or more times a week on top of walks, going to the park, etc. It got better for a while, but just over the past couple days it has gotten worse than it was. Yesterday I had to leave the house for a couple hours, and I left my keys inside, when I went to get it he had peed on the floor. Not a lot, just a little bit. His urine stream is changing, sometimes it is barely there, dribbling even, and sometimes it is fine. Today, while my roommate was home, he stayed upstairs in my room all day, then came down and without saying anything to my roommate he peed in the kitchen.
I called my vet again and we are going to have xray and ultrasound done. Does anyone have any ideas
No ideas, sorry, but you might try asking in the Heath and Medical forum where you might get some more ideas.

Just a heads up, this topic can get pretty controversial.

Diane ... I break FF into at least quarters and my hounds still manage to pick those darn pieces out of their foods. Its funny and frustrating at the same time.
I'm now looking for a powder option that I can sprinkle on wet food ...
They are gel caps you can open up and sprinkle on their food.

Just be careful, Henry's cute collecting habbit progressed to chewing and then to a $150 bill to fix my phone. Good thing the little bugger's so adorable

Thanks, paws crossed that this an omega-3 supplementation gets Leo back on track.
-
We're becoming suspicious Leo's issues with his feet being handled may be arthritis related, not just a refusal to let us cut his nails. Any thoughts about who is selling it at a good price these days?
Thanks

I think it can upset their stomaches, or so memory says. Have you thought about trying the gel cap where you open it up and sprinkle it on her food--it's possible something is added (flavor, etc.) to the pill form that is upsetting her.
-
If she'll tolerate it, try taking her in the car someplace really good after the vet--to get ice cream, to buy a new toy, that's helped here to cheer them up and it helps avoid a negative association with the car.
-
Frontline doesn't work here either, we've had no trouble since switching to Trifexis.
-
Adding to the crowd, soft, moveable lumps are usually nothing to worry about unless they're in a place they get irritated (under the collar, etc.) Hoping for a good answer on Monday.
-
I don't have any advice to add, but I'm sorry this happened and it's good to hear that Harvey is doing so well.
-
This certainly could be behavioral and you're getting great advice (as always). But I would suggest a vet visit as well--do a full thyroid panel and ask the vet about any possible sources of pain or discomfort he could be experiencing, either one can make a sweet dog snappish all of a sudden.

Chase had a larger than life personality, didn't he. I'm sorry that he's gone.
