Guest maidmarcia
Hi all, I know this is probably a much rehashed topic with you guys, but I was wondering if I could get some input on flea/tick medication. I've been under the impression that greyhounds need specific types of flea treatment. When I had a husky, I put her on Revolution as it is a great broad spectrum treatment. Then I read that Revolution can be harmful for greyhounds.... After doing a bit of research I decided to go with Frontline Plus. However, I don't think it covers heartworm. I hadn't purchased that treatment yet and happened to meet someone at the dog park who has two greyhounds. He told me that he gives both of them Revolution (and this is okay with his vet who is a greyhound specialist and is also incidentally MY vet) and they have never had adverse reactions. Now I'm confused. What is the safest for Licorice? How do I know Revolution won't affect him negatively? I don't want to spend money buying Revolution and then hurting him and wasting money. I suppose what it comes down to is that each dog is different and reacts differently to medications. What is your opinion and thought though? I'm not sure what to do at all! Thanks! Sambuca
I've used Revolution on my greys just fine. It worked great, but it doesn't cover ticks. I used the preventic collar with it. Front line is fine, but you do need a heart worm medication as well.
OwnedBySummer
The first year I had Summer, I used Revolution. I love Revolution! But as Sambuca said, it doesn't cover ticks. We go into the US a lot and I want tick protection so we switched to K9 Advantix and Heartgard. If ticks are a non-issue for you, I would say go for it. Quote Lisa B. Guest maidmarcia
Thanks for the thoughts so far! I'm glad to hear that it is an option. I don't think we have many ticks in my area, but I should probably get protection anyway.
Guest FastDogsOwnMe
As a Florida native with tons of dogs, I will say NOTHING works anymore here except Comfortis. Seriously, everything else is worthless.
