Are Chili Peppers Safe For Hounds?

Jack is obsessed with all things chili-flavoured. He has stolen a slice of jalapeno off my plate, begs like crazy if I'm eating spicy food, etc. Last night, I had reheated some Thai food, and he snatched the empty container that I'd absent-mindedly put on the counter (the only other food he's done this for is ice cream-- most things he shows some self-restraint and just wags his tail and whines) and started licking up the spicy sauce remains like he'd never seen food before. It didn't seem to have any ill effects, but I was wondering if hot peppers are safe for hounds to consume? Or if any of you have hounds with similarly weird tastes? (All my previous dogs have been very adverse to chili).

I do not think they are toxic to dogs however as with some people it can have toxic results. If you know what I mean :fart .

Mild, yes. Hot, no -- unless you want to be treating him for blistered mouth and esophagus.
