However, the Red Vine brand contains actual liquorice extract (many black liquorice candies use only anise for flavoring), and real liquorice can act like a steroid and affect the adrenals. He loves them, but he almost never gets any (maybe a half inch or so piece and a couple of times a year!) He loves treats of ALL kinds so I have learned to stick to the healthy stuff.
