Guest BlackandBrindle
Sadie had a weight bearing toe amputated. If Spud needed it done at just over seven years of age, I'd do it. Eight is still young and she sounds like she's in a lot of pain.
Guest KennelMom
The specialist here quoted $1200 for a toe amp. Our regular vet will do it for about $350. I do love the specialists here, but this is the toe of a pet, not performance dog. A toe amp is pretty basic....it's something our vet can handle quite easily. If I didn't trust them to be able to handle the anesthesia, they wouldn't be our vet. But you have to go where you are most comfortable. We have an extensive relationship with our vet...it seems like I've been there just about every week this year (I'm thinking of asking if I can rent a room there ) Edited August 5, 2009 by KennelMom
