greytluck
Hobbes is lame on his right hind leg after a greyhound fun run today. He ran pretty hard so I'm pretty sure he just pulled a muscle or something. When he first gets up it's quite noticeable but he walks out of it after a minute or so. Is there anything over the counter I can give to him? I don't think it's worthy of a vet trip but I don't want him uncomfortable. CaliforniaGreys
I've always had good luck with Ascriptin for sore or pulled muscles. If it's available there, Traumeel Gel really helps a lot. It's a homeopathic gel available in most health food stores. Our pharmacy carries it, but you can get it at health food stores too. greytluck
Thanks. Most health foods are already closed tonight but I'll go look for it first thing in the morning. Just a note on the Traumeel, if you get the tube to massage in, be sure to get the GEL and not the Cream. I made that mistake once and what a mess! The gel massages in nicely, plus they love the massage. It's an anti-inflammatory and also has Arnica in it which helps with pain. kjw
Yup, Traumeel. Some Zehrs carry it, and Loblaws Supercentres, if you call around you might find one of those open tonight.
