Guest carolxi
Hi Everyone, The grey org Anubis came from recommended a certain type of toothpaste for him. They all use it and they give you a tube with a toothbrush to start you off. I have recently changed vets and the new vet carries another type of toothpaste and not this brand. The new vet said it all depends on what their particular supplier carries. The kind recommended by the grey org is imREX and my new vet carries a brand called C.E.T. Can someone tell me if there is a 'better' or best brand for grey? Thanks so much, Cxi
Guest SoulsMom
I use Wysong DentaTreat and make paste out of that. Works pretty good . . .
Guest greytkidsmom
We have always used CET but that is what our vet had available. I think both CET and ImREX contain chlorhexidine which is the antibacterial ingredient that is recommended. Both are available on the internet for much less than the vet offices charge if you really want to keep using the ImREX. You don't need a prescription for either. Guest EnzaFerrari
Mine loves the CET brand toothpaste - too bad she won't let me brush her teeth with it. But she does go nuts when I pull out the tube.
rascalsmom
I've been using this: http://www.petzlife.com/ but it is expensive, especially for three dogs! ahicks51
We've used the Petrodex enzymatic stuff. The brush it comes with is far too firm; it'll injure the gums. So, buy a child's toothbrush, soft or extra soft if you can get it. Quote Coco (Maze Cocodrillo) Minerva (Kid's Snipper)

I have been thinking of trying it, especially for my cats Thanks! They told me at the pet store that they have customers who swear by the stuff. I've been using it exclusively for several months, but haven't really had the dogs' teeth looked at by the vet since....their teeth still look pretty good to me (all three had dentals this year)...I do brush their teeth EVERY SINGLE DAY. Guest carolxi
I have the gel. I'm really interested in this new stuff too. Anubis's teeth look like the dog's in the link. If his teeth could whiten up like that in 2 months, that would be amazing. But I'm scared - what is in it? Is it some bleaching agent, that might not be good for them or what? From the label: distilled water, grain alcohol, grapefruit seed extract, proprietary blend of herbs and natural oils. It says no food or water 1/2 before or after application. I just found a place in downtown Toronto in College Park that sells it!! It is advertised cheaper at this store than on eBay!! I think I'll try some next week. Re the half hour thing - I guess that's why people use it before the dog goes to sleep.
rascalsmom
I do withhold their water after brushing, and I can tell you, after that 1/2 hour is up, they are ready for a drink! It must make them thirsty. Quote Phoebe (Belle's Sweetpea) adopted 9/2/13. Jack (BTR Captain Jack) 9/28/05--11/2/12Always missing Buddy, Ruby, and Rascal.
