Tallgreydogmom
I was on some website where someone was using IP-6:( this potent antioxidant can help your body fend off cancer and heart disease ) with their greyhound with cancer. This is the first time I remember coming across this. Does anyone have any information or used this with their greyhound. Quote Then God sent the Greyhound to live among man and remember. And when the Day comes, God will call the Greyhound to give Testament, and God will pass judgment on man. (Persian Proverb)

ahicks51
IP-6 is the same as phytic acid, BTW. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytic_acid I think it proved useful in the test tube, but not in the organism. As usual. Quote Coco (Maze Cocodrillo) Minerva (Kid's Snipper)
Guest longdogs
Any antioxidant can 'fend off' cancer, at least those cancers that might be caused by mutations arising from the action of free radicals on DNA, that fail to be fixed by cellular repair processes or aren't prevented by naturally occurring antioxidants that should already be present. No non-destructive antioxidant is going to work against an established cancer. There is little scientific support for the belief that simply taking antioxidant supplements gives any measurable protection against cancer. True- and there are interesting data supporting the notion that consuming more polyunsaturated fats runs a higher risk of cancer than those who consume *saturated* fats instead. This actually makes sense in that if the fats are saturated, then they are less readily oxidized. A number of studies in humans have indicated that while replacing saturated fat with polyunsaturated fat *may* lower your chance for heart disease, the risk of dying early from cancer is elevated. Moreover, that risk is close to negating the benefits from lowering heart disease risk.
