Is This A "hot" Spot Or Just A Scratch?

Recommended Posts

I just found this on Chloe after a fun run at a local school.

Beau's had a hot spot before but it was a little different.

Could be a hot spot starting to form but, it actually looks like we've been licking. That is the perfect spot for an allergy dog to lick. :P You can clean the area with diluted Nolvasan and then apply a cortisone cream like Animax (or Panalog)--you might have to put a t-shirt on her for awhile to deter the licking.

If it truly is an allergy making her lick you can also give her Chlortrimaton (chlorpheniramine)--IMHO it works way better than Benadryl for skin itches. :colgate My 78lb dog gets 2-4mg tablets 2-3 times a day--safe to start and stop ad lib.
