During our run yesterday, my girl managed to get a 2" stalk of straw stuck diagonally in her foot. I have no idea how long she ran like that. The only reason I noticed was she stopped and looked at her foot, and took off running again. When I called her back to me, I noticed her gait was a bit "off". We were about 1/4 mile from home, so I pulled the stalk out, and off she went, like nothing had happened. I had a look when we got back to the house, and other than looking a bit "angry", we were in pretty good shape. By the time we drove back to town, her foot was already starting to swell and ooze. Gave it a good soak, and put a booty on. This morning, the foot is quite swollen, and still oozing. Our vet appointment is at 2:45pm.

She's fine. A little swollen, a little sore, but fine. Markus doesn't think that there's anything left in the foot, and feels that it's more the actual injury that's causing the swelling. Cephalexin and Meloxicam, and she's good to go. We had time to spare, so we ran annual bloodwork today - everything was normal.
