Guest BooMooandDoo
I got home and looked at Mazie and realized she has a nasty growth on her eyelid. It wasn't there last night. .. . .has anyone seen this before?
Burpdog
No, I've never seen anything like that (at least that I can remember!). Do you think it may be a bug bite? Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits
Guest BooMooandDoo
I don't think it's a bug bite. . . . . . .but anything is possible. . . . she's really tender. . . DH just picked her up to take her to vet . . . ..

ZoomDoggy
My Tipper has a thing like that in the exact same location. He also has pannus, but that's unrelated, according to my vet ophthalmologist. I don't recall exactly what the specialist called it (not a stye, that's what I thought it was too), but it was most likely a benign cyst-like growth. She said just to keep an eye on it for a couple days. Sure enough, the swelling went down and now it is just a barely noticeable bump on the edge of his eyelid. It did flare up one other time for no apparent reason, but again went back down in a day or two. He's had it for over a year. I'd watch it for a couple days. If it gets worse or doesn't go down, have it looked at. Oops, I type too slow. I see you're already bringing her in. Good luck! Quote ~Aimee, with Flower, Alan, Queenie, & Spodee Odee! Guest BooMooandDoo
Brian just called, he and Mazie are on their way back from the vet .. . . The vet squeezed Mazie's eyelid and shot himself in the face. . . . . He said that it's probably a secondary infection to a bug bite, a cyst, or some type of trauma. The vet gave us a topical antibiotic and if its not gone in a week, to come back. He also said that if it gets any bigger and she has trouble blinking or closing her eye, to come back in

Guest BooMooandDoo
Update: So I had a complete freak out moment on Friday. . . I got home and Mazie's eye blister spanned the entire length of her eyelid and she was unable to shut it. I tried to aspirate it, and the fluid was so thick, all I could get was a little yellowish bloody stuff. . . so I called the vet. Mazie was not her self. . she just layed around staring at me. . . .the vet didn't have any appts, but told me to bring her in and he's see her. He numbed the eyelid and looked behind it. . . and didn't see any evidence of any debris. . . . . he tried to aspirate it himself with a larger gauged needle, and like me. . only got a little out. . . He put her on antibiotics. . and told me that if it got any worse, to bring her back in and they'd lance the entire eyelid. I am happy to say after 3 doses of antibiotics. . .he eyelid finally looks like it's healing And can I just say. . . I love my new vet!!
