Guest ss556
Other than a urine test, what are symptoms of a UTI? Alan's been a licking you know what, so I was wondering if that could be a sign? Maybe that's some of his problems? He's peeing ok and he's not drinking a lot of water, but still isn't "right". He has had a few in the past. Guest greytexplorer
Yes---that constant licking, and usually extra pee-ing, sometimes just a few drops! Either take Alan to the vet and they will collect a sample and run the test on the spot, or you can collect and take it to the vet. It's a simple procedure and doesn't cost a whole lot. Alan will thank you.
Guest WarmheartedPups
Roo was having accidents in the house ...peeing frequently and drinking a lot of water. Her urinalysis showed nothing...but the culture came back positive for infection. They did the urinalysis by inserting a needle directly into the bladder....to make sure they got a clean sample. She took the drugs ...we went back for a recheck in two weeks....and she was clear of infection

Burpdog
Have vet do a urine culture. Also, check his sheath to see if he has a sheath infection. Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits

Guest PittyPat
We've been members for a long time but have never posted until now. PittyPat is nearly 13 and has had recurring uti for the past few years. One additioanl indication of a possible uti a particularly fetid odor to the pee. Antibiotics will usually clear up the infection but some infections are resistant to some antibiotics so you may have to try more than one type. In the meantime you might get some disposable underpads to absorb leaking. They're less expensive in the adult diaper section of the drugstore than they are at most pet supply stores. Good luck. Guest Snowy8
Dear was peeing in his crate, which is something he never did...and between the 3pm turn out & the 7pm turn out when he was left out of his crate, he would pee in the kitchen. The way we knew it was him is because sometimes it would be on the door...the girls don't pee up in the air. When we took him to the vet, he had the beginnings of a UTI.
