Guest Gideon
It is hard to explain. Duke will sit up and kind whoop or huff and then settle down again. Kind of in small fits. He's not coughing and not in pain. Any ideas what this might be?
Guest carolyn
Wagin has been doing this, too. We're in Memphis, so I think it might be allergies. I mentioned it to the vet, and she said we could give her a Benadryl 2x a day. I haven't done that, but if she gets real uncomfortable I will. Guest Gideon
It's not a reverse sneeze ?? Have they been checked for heart worms ?? Prayers to you and yours. It does kind of sound like that. I give him his heartworm meds but is it possible that they could still get in? What else should I be looking for if it is heartworms? lisad
Probably a reverse sneeze - both of mine do it. Is it like a "hgghahggahhgga" sound? Scared me to pieces the first time Apollo did it. If you have any doubts, take him to the vet. Better safe than sorry, I say.
Guest SillyDog
It does sound like a reverse sneeze. My first dog had an attack of them so bad that I thought she was choking and rushed her to the e-vet. I'd never heard of reverse sneezes before that day! It's usually allergies that cause them. If you're not sure that's what it is, though, I'd stop in at the vet's office.
