Guest JILLBROWN
My girl Starlight Jones has had diarrhea for about 6 weeks. We did all the tests and tried various meds. The internist now says that she has a yeast infection and prescribes nystatin in liquid form. She's lost some weight and her skin has gotten very dry. Her thyroid tests very low, which is apparently connected to yeast infections. Has anyone else had experience with an internal yeast infection? Batmom
Have never heard of an internal yeast infection in dogs, nor of that med being used internally, nor of low thyroid being related specifically to yeast infections. Was culture done? What tests/meds were tried? Has dog been wormed? If her T4 is very low, you'd want to get a full thyroid panel from Michigan State or similar lab. Low thyroid usually won't account for the diarrhea, but it could account for the dry skin. Burpdog
What does very low mean? Since the thyroid is the engine for the body, it can affect lots of things. Has she been wormed with panacur? Are you giving acidophillus pills? Where are you located? What are you feeding? Quote Diane & The Senior Gang Burpdog Biscuits
