It is again with a heavy heart that I am here to announce the passing of a beloved Greyhound. Opus Lancelot (Lance) Katherine Roberts's first adopted Greyhound passed over the bridge quietly at home this morning around 1:00 am. Lance was instrumental in the formation of GPA Indy. He was adopted from Greyhound Companions of Indiana and was one of the best "spokes doggies" for GPA-Indy during the early days. Lance was a very healthy boy and his heart just gave out this morning. Katherine was most recently the President of GPA-Indy and held that position for over 5 years. Along with Lance and Nick, Katherine inspired people from all walks of life to adopt retired racing Greyhounds. Lance and Snowflake were both rescued from The Melbourne Florida track with both of them coming to Indiana on the same truck. Lance too was 11 years 9 months old. Please take a moment to hug your hounds and say a prayer for Katherine as she is having a difficult time with Lance's passing. If you wish to send condolences to Katherine, her email is: Roberts359@aol.com

My heartfelt sympathy in her loss of Lance. Sounds like he was an inspiration to many. Please let Katherine know how very sorry we are and that we are all here for her day and night. I believe we will see them again one day, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." My son's greyhound's heart gave out suddenly like that one night. It is just such a painful ordeal to deal with.He was also healthy as can be. I think God needed a few more angels and stars to light our beautiful Heaven .
