  1. I didn't catch the details, but heard something on the radio yesterday or today maybe about some new test result on glucosamine on people with arthritis, and results show it is definitely effective. I wish I was paying more attention, but it seemed as if this was some new proof that hadn't been available before. I guess I could look it up on a news website... anyway, if it's effective on people it ought to be effective on dogs, right? Tam
  2. Wrapping up the pill in a piece of cheese slice has worked for Tori. I "mold" a strip of American cheese around the pill by warming it in my hand and making sure all the edges are sealed, so it's really just a little ball of cheese with the pill in the middle. Tori likes cheese so well she just inhales it, pill and all. If it isn't sealed up good, she manages to spit the pill out, though. then I start all over with another strip of cheese. Sometimes she ends up getting a nice sized cheese treat due to it taking several attempts. I just drop those Brewers Yeast pills into her kibble and she doesn't even know she's eating them, but I don't think they have much taste. Good luck with your babies! Tam
  3. Just caught a segment on Emergency Vets today on Animal Planet - the woman vet (forget her name) takes her 11 year old dog (a terrier mix) to a Children's Hospital for visits. They have a regular pet therapy program there - the dog needs a bath just prior to the visit to remove any dander and germs, probably other rules as well. But it was inspiring seeing the children's response to the dog. They even lifted the dog up into the beds with patients who weren't able to sit up, had tubes, etc. They said kids who have become very withdrawn during long hospital stays will open up and smile around a dog. Worth looking into... Tam
