  1. I'm worried. It's very stressful living w/ the constant fear that his heart will stop working at any moment. :brokenheart

This is me, for the last 2 years with Lazer. First it was blood clots IN his heart - Now we are worried about CHF. He is on

tons of medications and supplements. When we go for our walks, I let him sniff every bush, pee on every branch, roll in anything stinky (bath afterwards) and then he eats pretty much anything he wants.

For our boys, Life is NOW,, at the moment. we live it as best as we can ....

fingers and toes crossed for your boy and mine, if you don't mind sharing -

and an extra hug for you!

    Lorinda

    :grouphug

  2. Here is the little stinker! :hehe caught him with his eyes closed

He and Lazer are already friends (and Lazer is doing great!! thank you for asking about him!)

Spirit is wondering why such a little bugger is on HER bed!!!

eta: bed covers are in the wash - sorry groddy pic of dog beds!!

  3. Ok,,, all you IG people, I need some advise.

I just got the cutest IG to foster, his name is Smokey - and he is a JUMPER!

he jumped over my 6' car gate the other day - then jumped right back over to me when I called to him!

i was freaking out - then happy - then mad ! but managed to give him a treat for returning to me with a wagging

    tail and mischievous eyes.

How in the world do you keep an IG from jumping the fence/wall when he knows he can do it!

where I live he would be coyote food in a matter of hours!

I'm so paranoid now that I've taken to leash walking him around my one acre (which is a pain cause he wants to go everywhere!) so... any advise?

he also has wiggled out of his harness a couple times. thankfully i had him double clipped to a martingale and didn't have to chase him around the block.

eta: he's almost 10 yrs old - and the adoption coordinator thought he was fat - but i think he really only needs to loose 1lbs to be perfect!

  4. I was reminded that I hadn't updated you all on the latest with Lazer :beatheart

After prescribing Vetmedin and Furisomide with along with Plavix, diltiazem and enalapril ~ we had his blood

checked for electrolytes and basic kidney function. (sorry for all the misspellings darn drugs are hard to spell!)

I am happy to report,, he is as "normal" as HE can be!!! :yay

so we are going forward with the current prescriptions and are hoping, no - EXPECTING ! - lazer to be around

way longer than any statistic out there!!!

btw: we finally had a morning temp under 80 degrees and we went for a nice long-slow- 2 mile walk the other morning!

lazer pranced beside me the whole way. he didn't move all afternoon, but was ready to go again the next day! :beatheart

lorinda and Lazer the miracle boy, again! or is that STILL!!! :)

  5. My girlfriend went thru this with her 7yr old greyhound.

tumor was surgically removed - and confirmed intestinal lymphoma. they did no additional treatment from the time of removal.

She lived a good happy life for 18 months then they had to let her go. I think that is significantly longer than usual if no treatment is

    added to the regime.

  6. Both Lazer and I are feeling better today ! :D

he is adjusting very well to the meds. and i am mentally coming to terms with the additional diagnosis.

The best part is my regular vet. Dr. V - has been beside me from the day Lazer collapsed - has called twice since tues. to check in on him!!!

The cardiologist is from Texas, was here on a 'visit', so i wont' have his expertise for continuation progress reports with Lazer - that has been

a worry for me - but Dr. V is going to be vigilant with followups, apts. for all future testings and all things Lazer!!! :bow:cheers

So i think we are back to our new "normal" --- now if only the heat would break :whiteflag so we can start walking in the mornings again!

  7. Thank you for your encouragement! !

I love hearing the wonderful success stories and cry with you through the losses!!!

Lazer is doing really well. I have to think it's the Vetmedin working already.

Our regular Vet. spent some time with me on the phone and I feel good about our plan for Lazer.

I'm waiting to get confirmation on drug interactions with some of the other supplements he is taking --- otherwise we are on the way to kicking this statistic to the moon!!!!. :-D
