Chillaxification is probably one of the top two or three dogs in the country.

If you like a closer he is the dog to watch. He is never out of it even when he looks like he is and this is the way he runs most of his races.. He is in the 1 box

I cannot believe this thread I started 11 YEARS ago is still going! How about that? I said I would never pre-adopt a greyhound again, but, it seems as though I have, indeed, done just that.
I wanted a Southland dog.  Flupascrackerbox was the king of Southalnd and likely still is.  I asked a friend who works there if she would be around when I came to pick up my new dog.
She would said she would (as it turns out, she won't) and oh, by the way, we have this dog....Lol!  My boy is older, but still good and races again Chillaxification when he has the misfortune to draw in against him!

Awesome hound! Dick....thank you for carrying on here. I rarely even come to Greytalk anymore, but I have to believe this thread can still do some good. Especially now.

  2. Pizza Joint is officially on her way to me! I found out yesterday morning that he was ready to retire her, and she is supposed to be getting on a haul this morning. She's heading for Florida and will have a layover there until the hauler heads up north again. I can't believe she's finally on her way! I'm excited and a little terrified all at the same time :lol

Awesome! Congrats! How long did you wait for her? I don't come here much anymore.

  3. Husker Magic got win number 99 last night. With her next win she will become the 51st in the history of greyhound racing to get to 100 wins.

When you figure that well over 1 million greyhounds have stepped foot on a race track she is a very special greyhound.

I am so, so happy Magic is going to make this! We tried with Crackerman, but with a nagging recurring injury and 4.5 years old, the only way to do it would be to drop him down in grade. Nobody was willing to do that, so he retired with 93 SL AA marathon wins and 2 A marathon wins. He would have been the 48th hound to do it back then.

  4. I don't see what is uncivil about sharing negative experiences with a business, and telling people what actually happened when you tried to interact with someone is not a matter of opinion. You're the first to say anything positive about working with BluToo, so I'm skeptical of your experience. And my own account comes from reading their facebook page where they effectively shot down someone's inquiry about pre-adoptions. Should I not believe what Blu Too says about themselves?

Bluebyyou had another bad run a couple days ago. She broke well but lost ground around the turn and finished last. I think she'll be dropped down to B races now.

Be skeptical all you want. If you want this thread to continue, I suggest you drop it and stick to W & W. If you want to be the reason this thread goes away after 7 years, carry on. I did start this thread all those years ago and it was not easy. More people than not here would be very happy if it went away. Your choice.

  5. I'm not following any Blu Too dogs because I've read that they aren't a friendly business.

Not my experience with Blu Too at all. Don't believe everything you read. They put their dogs first and foremost. What they do or don't do is done for a reason. Get to know them yourself then decide. And everyone keep your personal opinions to yourselves. This thread has been civil for almost 7 years. See it stays that way.

  6. Thank you for all the responses. I am going to wait until he's at least 2. Yes, he is AKC and has a great temperament. He was tough to train in the beginning, but has learned mannerisms and is slowly becoming a very obedient dog.

I honestly am even considering not neutering him because he has a great personality and gets along great with other dogs since he was raised with a whippet mix of mine. People are saying that I should though because he will get more aggressive and be prone to cancer much more. Any truth to this?

Lots of debate on the cancer yay or nay. In my experience no truth at all to the aggression question. I travel a lot with my dogs. We meet lots of other people and dogs. Do I let my dogs run with dogs they don't know? Ummm, no. Your dog, your decision.

  7. Dick, I keep forgetting you are not on FB! I've done a bunch of these little slide shows and I don't know if you have seen any of them.

This one is the latest. 2015 version of the BluToo kids. Bucky's son is a fan of the William Tell Overture ( aka the Lone Ranger Theme.) I did

a 2014 version for them, but this one is better. Not great quality even on Vimeo. Wish it looked as good as it does on my machine, but it never does. Too much compression I guess.

  8. The originator of Watching and Waiting wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Started way back in 2009 as a way for me to learn about racing as I waited for my pre-adopte hound, I am beyond amazed it is still here and still going. Dick has taken over the thread and I cannot thank him enough for his experience and knowledge and all that he shares with us. Dick has been here right from the very start.

I'd LOVE to see as many of our adopted W & W hounds as we can round up. How are y'all doing now?

Flupascrackerbox is 9 years old now. Fit and healthy I think he could still give the old Southland oval a run for it's money.

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  9. Thanks for the heads up on adopting a CrackerCrumb Anne! Cocoa is gorgeous and she carries some of her daddy's traits. Most noteable so far is that high energy level. Cracks is by far the highest energy greyhound I have ever met. Welcome to the Dave the Dog family. Best wishes for a long and happy life for you and Cocoa!
