Oh Wendy, I am so very sorry for your loss.
-
I dearly wish I had more to offer than this:
-
Farewell, sweet mamadog.
-
I am speechless.

Yikes! I had no idea her teeth were that bad. Poor lil peanut. Hope she heals fast!

Just to offer another possibility... Have you had her wormed recently? Sometimes a symptom of hookworms is a lack of morning appetite.

**UPDATE**
Beth just called me, she can't update right now because she's waiting at the airport to pick up her daughters, whose flight has been delayed. She will update everyone here in more detail later tonight.
She asked me to pass along the basic info from today's appointments.
Isis was able to walk this afternoon with only a small residual amount of oddness in one back foot, with high steps, almost walking as though that foot is numb. She was sedated for the MRI, and the results were inconclusive. No abnormalities were found at all. No visible bleeds, spine looks great for a dog her age. She came out of sedation fine and is now conked out at home.
There is still uncertainty whether it was a stroke or FCE, but the neurologist is leaning toward FCE, based on how fast she seems to be recovering.
So the bad new is they still don't really know exactly what happened, but the REALLY GOOD NEWS is that she is getting better. Her regular vet was astounded.
Also a little Ivy update: aside from gunky ears, she is also currently doing very well. Appetite is still great. Almost too great-- she ate so much yesterday her tummy was bulging.
I'm thrilled and honored to be able to pass along such wonderful news!

At the neuro office and reading from my phone while waiting. Thanks everyone. On a good note... Isis walked in by herself. My vet called and said that could be a really good sign that we may be dealing more with FCE since she is better today and she had the steroid shot last night. The MRI should tell us more.

I'm hoping SuzieQ sees this also. I can't recall the details of what she went through with Alan...
for sweet beautiful Isis.

Oh NO! Oh Jude, I am so very sorry for your loss of such a sweet boy.

I'm so sorry the news wasn't better. Gentle smooches for Bijou...

I know nothing of that product, but have you had an xray to rule out a partial blockage?

Has he lost a lot of weight?
Aw Sparks... My second-favorite black boy-o. I wish my Tipper were doing as well, weight-wise.
I meant to ask how he's doing when I saw you Sat but again was a zombie and out of it.
Yeah. He had a long bout of vomiting and/or diarrhea. Took me a while to figure out he just can't digest kibble anymore. Now that he's eating raw, he's doing MUCH better. But still needs to pack some weight back on. And his back legs are pretty wobbly these days.

Aw, heal up, stupid foot! It was nice seeing my little peanut-Passion last Saturday.

You have had one hell of a year. I am soooo beyond sorry for your loss. All of your losses. :
-
Wonderful news! I like "old guy" just fine. I call my male my ol' man Tipper all the time (like Ol' Man River).
-
Oh Karen, I am so so sorry for your loss.

Oh Wendy, I am so sorry for your loss of such a special kitty.

Personally, I would not wait three days. This sounds scary enough to warrant a vet visit asap. Even if it turns out to be something minor, better to find out now during weekday hours, than an emergency vet visit over the weekend.

To clarify, I never meant to suggest that dramatic weight loss in an older hound should be ignored. Just that it *can* happen even when there is no clear reason, despite proper blood panels and fecal tests.
