I take my pups to Como Park Animal Hospital for most routine vet care and minor emergencies. There are three vets there whom I feel fairly comfortable working with. Their prices are a bit steep, but you do get what you pay for. They have good modern equipment, and don't screw around when you need something done. They even allowed me to help hold Marla when she had some skin growths lasered off.
I also have a holistic vet we see for acupuncture & such for my little ol' lady Chancy's bad back, but they're in Mpls. For anything that seems very specific to greys (i.e. if I don't trust Como's grey-savvy-ness) like reading bloodwork or anesthesia, I'll go to either Dr. Barr in Coon Rapids, or to the U of M.
Feist is a VCA "chain" hospital, and as such tends to have a rotating staff. I used to take one of my cats there, but got tired of never seeing the same vet twice.

I didn't see this until now... : for Sally. I sincerely hope this is just a "spell" and she'll pull out of it quickly.
-
Donna... I'm just so so sorry.

You're in my thoughts. It's hard enough to face all this, but to also have little to no support at home is beyond terrible. I'm so sorry. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Still thinking of you and Bounty... I'm glad you're able to stay home with him again today.

Believe it or not, I had surprising success using a small oral syringe to give Sissy Vanilla Ensure near the end. I filled it up, and poked it into the corner of her mouth and slowly released the vanilla-ey goodness into her mouth. I was leery at first that I'd be "forcing" this stuff into her, but she actually seemed to like it, nibbling at the syringe each time I offered it. I believe it gave her enough strength to enjoy a few more good moments those last days.

Checking in to see how you and Bounty are doing this morning...

Glad it went well. How many did she have to lose?

"Just dentals" make me a nervous wreck too. Major!

Glad he's home again! I hope you have a nice peaceful weekend together. I keep thinking of you both.

It really is hard to keep proper perspective when you read the H&M board here. But if you try to think of the number of all the greys who belong to Greytalk members, then count the ones who are affected by cancer, the percentage is less intimidating. It's also true that some folks will only post when they're faced with health problems, looking for advice or support. That's what H&M is for, and it's a blessing I've taken advantage of more than once.
I hate cancer too. It's brutal and hideous and uncompromising.

Oh Donna, I was soooo hoping against hope that this wasn't the case.
Still thinking of you & Bounty nonstop...

Been thinking of you and poor Bounty all day...

Wouldn't prostate problems be unrelated to blood-tinged vomiting? I'm so sorry, I know how this kind of mystery can tear you apart.
-
Poor Bounty! I didn't follow what all you've done already, so forgive me if you've said this elsewhere... but have you done x-rays and ultrasounds on chest and abdomen already?
-
I posted this in ABT, but seemed more apropos here...
How's Bounty's appetite today? Didja know they make Lamb baby food? That was one of Sissy faves when she was sick. I found in her case that she preferred to eat from my fingers rather than lapping from a bowl like a philistine. She also actually liked vanilla Ensure too.Hope he's feeling better!

Good luck. :

A beautiful tribute. Thank you for sharing Beck's story with us. I'm terribly sorry for your loss.

Ouch!! Did you ever figure out how it happened?
-
That's so cool! I'm glad you noticed that behavior!
-
Holy crow, I wonder what happened! I hope he's going to be okay!

Oh I'm so so sorry to hear of Lilah's passing. My heart goes out to you.

Tipper pukes water if he tanks it in too fast. I often have to interrupt his drinking to prevent overindulgence. If I make him take several small drinks over a few minutes, he's fine. But if he takes one looong drink, it's guaranteed I'll be mopping it up in a minute or two.
Puking food is less normal. If Alan is puking food regularly, I'd be more concerned. Is he active immediately before or after his meals? If so, maybe try to make sure he follows "swimmer's rules" regarding eating and activity. After exercise, let his tum settle for at least 30 minutes before a meal, and an hour or two after, before allowing him to run around again.
Hope this helps.

Oh, forgot to add-- if they're in Highland Park, please do invite them to visit me at my Meet & Greet this Saturday at the Highland Petco from 11am to 1pm. We love visitors, and no "group" politics, I promise! I just adore meeting new hounds, and so do Tip & Marla.
My M&G is the last Saturday of each month.
