  1. Good to hear it went well. It was neat to see the thread title -- my dog, also Logan, has his dental scheduled for this Thursday.
  2. Thanks for the comments. They are doing really well together, and are kind of complementary. Max doesn't roach, while Logan does; but Max plays with toys in the backyard, which Logan doesn't. Only problem is still trying to get them both in the backseat of the car without snarking (from Logan). I tried again today, and they were fine going down to the park together, but they are tired coming back home and so Logan barks whenever he thinks Max is encroaching on his space. Here they are on the trip back: I think the ah, lack of contentment, is obvious. Hasn't gone beyond the occasional bark, so I think It will work for short trips (the nearest park is only about 6 miles away), but unfortunately I don't think taking both dogs together on a longer trip is realistic. - Rob
  3. I adopted Logan in May 2013, from GAO in Ohio which does do dentals. But I haven't done brushing or anything more than giving him hard kibble and those milkbone dental bones (which probably do nothing). Based on his annual in May 2014 the vet thought he should probably have a dental in the fall, hence it being scheduled now. - Rob
  4. Thanks for the comments, I did not know to ask about pre-anesthesia, but I will mention the sensitivity to morphine when I drop him off, and the Amicar suggestion (I doubt he will have any extractions, but just in case...) - Rob
  5. I introduced myself and my greyhound Logan about three weeks ago. Max is the new dog, adopted last week. He is a 10 yo black male, racing name Iowa Rainey Day (not such a good racer, only ran 17 races never came in better than 3rd :-) Anyway, here are some pictures: and here are a couple of Max and Logan learning to co-exist. Sharing the couch (working pretty well): and the back seat of the Ford Fusion (not so well, Logan tends to snark a bit till they settle down): - Rob
  6. Just a quick question. My dog Logan is getting his first dental since his adoption this week (Thursday). He is only 4 yo and the teeth look generally good (no extractions expected) so I don't foresee any problems, but since anesthesia is an issue with greyhounds I thought I would post the recipe my vet is planning to use to make sure no one sees any issue (he was aware that greyhounds have issues in this area). The recipe is: (1) anesthesia induced by an IV injection of ketamine and diazepene (valium); then (2) anesthesia is maintained by an inhalent gas called isoflurane Anyone see any concerns here? Thanks in advance, - Rob
  7. Thanks for the complements on Logan, everyone. llm51807, yes Logan was adopted from GAO. I'm on the west side (North Ridgeville), so unfortunately Youngstown is a good hour plus drive for me, but I try to make some of the GAO events. sireltonsmom, Logan actually raced in Sarasota a few times, won once there that I know of. His racing name was Gable Logan. Greyt_livin, the coat is from Sewing Cats and Dogs (http://sewingcatsanddogs.com/) -- I'm pretty sure they will do mail order, just send in the measurements (website instructs what to measure). Logan has both the pictured coat and a sweater vest (actually two of each), and we go with the sweater in the 40's, coat in the 30's, and both in the 20's or lower. Thanks again,
  8. Hello, My name is Rob, from Northeast Ohio, and I adopted Logan, 4-yo brindle male, in May 2013. I have been reading GT since then, but only now got around to setting up a Photobucket account so I can post pictures - three below, hopefully they came out ok...
