  1. it's hard to believe it's been a year. i miss her, too
  2. i'm so sorry. the passing of one of our hounds is always heartbreaking, especially under such tragic circumstances
  3. Loca began to exhibit pain before she exhibited peeing symptoms. I became concerned when it took her three tries to jump into the back of my car, when she had always jumped in with enthusiasm. She was in obvious discomfort. Then I noticed a few drops of blood in her urine; which i probably never would have noticed had there not been snow on the ground. here was my question about it that i posted on GT. Keep in mind that Loca always peed frequently, even before he had the UTI. I wonder is there could be decreased peeing due to pain...
  4. chiropractic has worked wonders with loca. i highly recommend it. having said that, has leena been checked for a UTI? loca had similar difficulties and pain before she started treatment for a UTI. hope leena's feeling better soon.
  5. congratulations!!! i love his name...especially for a greyhound! :rofl
  6. susan, last year i accidentally deleted tons of pictures from my hard drive. i'm afraid that my pictures on pongo were among them. i'm so sorry anyway, we all had a sleepover at nancy and mark's house, including my phoenix and loca. everybody LOVED pongo!! i would have taken him in a heartbeat if i possible. you've got yourself a fantastic new family member, but i guess you don't need me to tell you that it's good to see you here and i look forward to more pictures and pongo stories.
  7. welcome!! i've met pongo at nancy and mark's house and he is fantastic!! i will post some pictures of him for you if i can find them.

  11. i just want to offer a little encouragement. in the three years i've had loca, she broke three metatarsel bones in right leg (all one injury) and broke her toe. the broken toe was more much problematic than the metatarsel bones. it took longer to heal, became infected and needed frequent bandage changes. i think you'll find that many of us whose dogs broke their toe(s) needed lots of patience and perseverance during the relatively long healing time.
  12. my vet gave me empty iv bags and rubber bands to cover the soft bandages during walks. as long as they are fastened tight enough, they do a good job of keeping out moisture. i used it for every walk, even when it seemed dry outside.
  13. your parents should ask their vet about an antibiotic called clamavox, which loca took for three weeks when she developed an infected ulcer due to a wet cast.
  14. i'd get another opinion, also. loca also had a broken foot (well, toe) that developed an ulcer and became infected from the bandage rubbing and from getting wet. she was treated with antibiotics for a long time and everything eventually cleared up.
