So sorry, Pam. You were so close.

I'll admit, I'm excessively paranoid about bloat.
I try to keep them as quiet as possible after they eat. It's just something I'm afraid that if I let my guard down- something bad will happen.
I did have to load Cookie into the car right after a meal a couple times so we could go to a meet n greet and I was worried about it the whole day but I'm doing better with relaxing things a little. I hated walking them after their evening meal but I think I got used to the routine and stopped worrying so much.
Cookie's foster mom told me a story about someone's golden who got bloat and died very suddenly, and it has stayed etched in my mind, I'll admit.

Something else also. I received this in an email Aug. 23 so hopefully everyone who uses it has been notified.
Heartworm preventative Iverhart Plus is being recalled by manufacturer Virbac; lots 090093 and 090095 are affected.VIN News, a veterinary news service reports that Virbac “did not share the company’s (recall) letter with the VIN News Service, sales representative Tara Youngblood explains that veterinarians are being asked to contact their distributors to see if they’ve purchased product from the recalled lots.” http://news.vin.com/vinnews.aspx?articleId=13680
The FDA website did not provide any information of this heartworm preventative recall, however the FDA website did provide a FDA Warning Letter issued to Virbac, Inc. dated December 10, 2008. http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementAction.../ucm1048051.htm
The FDA Warning Letter to Virbac stated an inspection discovered “numerous violations of current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations…the documented violations cause drug products manufactured at your facility to be adulterated”.
Neither Virbac Corporate Website (http://www.virbac.com/p-virbaccompuben/display.aspx?srv=p-virbaccom&typ=pub〈=en&cmd=view&style=styles/home.xsl&monrep=&select=) nor the Virbac Animal Health website (http://www.virbacvet.com/ ) provided information regarding the Iverhart Plus recall (perhaps the information is on Virbac company websites, however I could not find it).
If your dog is taking Iverhart Plus heartworm preventative, contact your Veterinarian.
Wishing you and your pet(s) the best,
Susan Thixton

I'm flabbergasted a boarding kennel wouldn't get your dog proper vet care. That's kinda scary.

So sorry about Lee Lee.

We've never let Greta on the couch or any furniture. Just our rules, but probably a good thing with her. She needs to always know that she is not the boss--or she will assume she is!
We tried to let Cookie on the furniture, and it didn't work out, either.

As far as fan placement, I have an idea that I use. I don't use A/C, myself, just fans. Can't do A/C!
I have a round fan, and it can move from being upright to pointing to the ceiling. I actually point it to the ceiling and the air seems to circulate pretty well.
We've never had A/C in any our homes.
My bf did say that running fans generates more electrical usage than A/C, so it's entirely possible it's more economical to use the A/C. This may be something to look into before making a decision.

I got a 3 year for my dachshund last year. I guess the rule of thumb, at least with my vet, is that they have to have 1 year rabies previously to get the 3 year.
This year I'm hoping they're able to give Cookie a 3 year b/c she does have a record of her previous rabies shot from when she waiting on the farm last year.
