  1. Genie was such an inspiration. I hear of so many greys dying so young, but then I think of Genie and it gives me hope.

Genie, sweetie, you lived your life to the fullest. You even attended a party on your last day. You left on your own terms. I will always remember you.

    Run free sweetie!

  2. It breaks my heart to hear that things are not going well right now. I hope that the doctor is able to give her medication to clear up whatever is bothering her. If it's sinus, she may be having trouble hearing and just feeling really blah. I had that same problem last week and felt well... blah.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire gang. How is Andy doing?

  3. Oh, Judy, I'm sorry to hear that she is having such a hard time today and I know that you are, too. I'm sure she is confused since this happened so suddenly. My Sami's blindness was gradual, so we had time to get used to it. It still broke my heart though. Sami was a cocker spaniel, so I just carried her when she needed help. It's not that easy with a grey.

You are in my thoughts. I know that things will get better for her. It will just take time.

The blog is a great idea. I will be following it to see how much she is improving. :)

  4. I'm sorry that she has lost her sight, but I know she will adjust.

I'm sure you will receive a lot of tips on how to make the adjustment easier for her. I think a bell on Andy's collar sounds like something that would be helpful since they are so close.

When my Sami went blind, I started wearing more perfume because I thought it would make it easier for her to find me. She probably didn't appreciate that since their sense of smell is so strong anyway. Sami was also deaf though, so I wanted to be sure that she knew I was around. She went deaf and then blind in her senior years.

I look forward to hearing updates on sweet Emmy. I know she will be fine with all the love she has in her home.

  5. I'm so sorry, Judy. I'm keeping you all in my thoughts and hoping that something can be done for her to help her regain some of her sight.

My thinking is that the other dogs will help her and maybe as she gets use to things, she will accept their help more willingly.

I had a cocker spaniel that lost her sight and hearing. I think it was harder on me than on her. She seemed to accept it and I encouraged her sense of smell as much as possible.
