Guest TheApollo
We recently adopted a 4 year old male who at first seemed an absolutely perfect gentleman! Recently we started getting noise complaints while we were away and decided to videotape him in his crate to make sure he was really barking. (He had never been vocal before). Well turned out to be more then barking, it was like an 8 hour panic attack. Long story short we wanted to try leaving him outside of his crate and his anxiety instantly decreased and the barking disappeared. However he is still whining, and pacing when we are gone. He does settle but not for very long before he paces again. He does this over and over. Luckily there has been only minimal destructive tendencies We are hoping this is a good sign. But are unsure if its separation anxiety we can try to work with or if he needs to be in a home with other dogs. Any suggestions out there?
