Guest JustGreyt05
Anyone have any experience with it? The dermatologists at school recommended it for Dylan's probable atopy. The science behind it is sound, but I was curious if anyone here had used it on their greys. We're going to try it once monthly x6 months and see if his pruritus and scaling lessens. Here's the Virbac site if you don't know what it is. http://www.virbacvet.com/products/dermatology/allergicdermatitis/allerdermspotonskinlipidcomplex.aspx
Greydawg
No, but I use vet-suggested ALLERGROOM (by Virbac) shampoo on my guys, and I like it a lot. Heisman had itchy skin and the vet suggested twice-weekly baths with Allergoom for the first month and then taper off the baths after that. It really did help him. Thank goodness. I was skeptical the frequent baths would dry out his skin and cause an even bigger problem, but just as my vet said, they didn't. Now I use it on both dogs every time I bathe them. Hopefully, Allerderm will help Dylan soon. Edited April 7, 2012 by Greydawg Quote Cheryl - "Mom" to RUNNER (Gunnah, born 6/15/2012) and FARGO (Ridin Shotgun, born 8/21/2015). Guest itsagreytlife
Yes, we are using it now on Selah. She has allergies & is now on a food trial, so I had to stop giving her salmon oil. She has very dry skin, so the derm gave me a script for Allerderm. Its supposed to do the same thing as the salmon oil & they were also quite optimistic it would help with her general allergic reactions. Her coat looks good & the allergies seem to be not bothering her so much. I really respect our vet dermatologist & believe she would not recommend a unnecessary or bad product. Good luck!
