Um, I was thinking the same thing. Seems like a potty before human bedtime should be mandatory.

I definitely agree. If I dont MAKE my 3 go out and toilet before I go to bed, Im awakened at around 3am.

 

Me too. I do "make" mine go - a gentle nudge of course. I would never ever make them hold it for more than 8-9 hours unless it's an emergency or extreme situation. I sleep better, they sleep better and it's better health wise for their bladders.

Sounds like the person isn't making the dog hold it -- the dog prefers not to go at that time and has no problems waiting until later. Doesn't seem like a big deal for a healthy young-middle aged dog. My angel Zema was like that for much of her life.
