Taking A Stool Sample:

Sorry for the topic, it's kind of gross! I am taking Pike to the vet in four hours today. He normally only poops in the morning, so I am planning on taking his stool sample on his morning walk. That means it's gonna sit around for 4 hours. Er.... do I keep it at room temperature, or would I put it in the fridge? I have a pill bottle I've washed out to keep it in, and a popsicle stick to use after he does the deed.

I can't believe I'm asking this, but I want to make sure we do it right the first time around so I don't have to take another! My neighbors already think I'm crazy due to the singing and talking I do with the dog on an average walk. Don't know what they're going to think about the sampling and storing of the #2. LOL.

No need to apologize. We have all had to do it. It is like parents who change diapers- others are grossed out but we take it in stride. You have to refrigerate it.

THANK YOU! Guess I'll go wake up my lazy boy finally. :)
