Guest speedoketo
http://www.avma.org/careforanimals/animate.../plhotlines.asp This is a list of pet grief hotlines. Sorry if this has been posted before (I couldn't find it in a quick search) but I feel a lot of people on here could benefit from the kind, gentle understanding and support these volunteers offer. Pet grief is far too often trivialized (who doesn't cringe when you hear "it's just a dog?") and these hotlines legitimize the gaping hole in your heart left there by the loss of a pet. They also can counsel you if your pet is sick or you're trying to make difficult ethical/medical decisions like what time is the right time to let go. They won't tell you to do anything or pass judgment.
Guest lynne893
Thank you for posting this. Losing a pet is so painful and awful. I wish I'd known about this 6 years ago! Did you also post this in the "remembrance" section?
