Stoney
Stoney split one of his back toe nails, not in half but about an 1/8th off the very outside of the nail. It's bleeding (though it seems to have stopped now), but I'm more worried about the split ripping further. Any suggestions? Should I just tape it up? Stoney thanks you for the least painful option to his precious little tootsies! Quote ClayGreys
Guest sheila
I would think some tape would be OK or maybe a dab of Super Glue.
Guest SoulsMom
How far up does it go? I'd wrap and keep an eye on him. When this happened to Soul in September it was split all the way to the top. I knew we needed to go the vet when we went to bed that night. I could tell he was in pain. He kept stretching that leg and shaking a bit. The vet cut the toenail off to the pad. It was gruesome. But after a day he wasn't hurting anymore. It's taken until now to grow back halfway. And it grew back crooked, now it sticks out to the side Edited February 24, 2009 by SoulsMom
Stoney
He's not in real pain, just greyhound drama pain. I'll try some superglue and see what happens. Quote ClayGreys
Stoney
Update! It seems to have resolved itself! YAY! Apparently it was a weird split where the bottom was fatter than the top, so it kind of 'peeled' off without even a blink from the sleeping hound. (he's a drama king, really) Quote ClayGreys
