Guest Latch
I just noticed today that Latch has little creatures in his poop! They are white and flat and a little less than an inch long. In this particular poo there were two of them...what are these? He has a vet appt. tomorrow. Can these be very dangerous or easily treated? Im worried
Guest greyladydown
Sounds like tape worms. A dose of Drontal Plus should do the trick. Easily treated and not directly transmissible to other dogs or humans. (They need an intermediate host) Don't be worried, just call your vet for the medication. ZoomDoggy
Tapeworms. Gross, but easily treated. Quote ~Aimee, with Flower, Alan, Queenie, & Spodee Odee! Sighthounds4me
Yup tapeworms. They are transmitted by fleas, so you may want to apply Frontline (or whatever you use) as well. But it's always possible that it was a stray flea dropped off a rabbit or something... lovinggreysslp
I agree that they sound like tapeworms. You may want to take a sample that has at least one visible worm to show your vet. Easily treated so don't worry. Guest jonah305
Our Sammie had chronic worms in her stool, as she was constantly around many other dogs at the dog park, so our vet recommended Ivomec every two weeks. Worked like a charm. We use that instead of Heartguard. Johnnie
