  1. my heart is breaking

kathy and i go way back

we meet years ago with the rest of the "old " aol gang-nancy,amber,janie, harry, kims, lisa, donnamarie etc

gussie was at the grateful greyhounds fall ball years ago and when lisa told kathy about her kathy immediately said she was ready for that little girl

kathy found out we adopted myron she found out they were litter mates

we never could figure out what our relationship was were so were co mom's we guessed

when christine of greyhound rehab and rescue told her about knuckles well you all know the rest

kathy is taking care of our bridge angels and partying with leah, julie and sally

    hugs to nancy and amber

  2. it was my pleasure to be involved to getting gus to his forever home

things so happen for a reason

i rarely get time to go on greytalk

grateful does not do long distance adoptions. the longest distance had been 2 hours and even that one a home visit was done by a gg'er

when doc was in foster i put him on greytalk more as an info post

corey fell in love she contacted our president and lisa couldn't have been more impressed

i hadn't been on greytalk for a while but again posted about trigger aka gus

i had not even seen the post about doc at that point but when i saw it i was devasted, never ever thinking doc would work his magic and connect corey with gus

i posted on greytalk about trigger aka gus hoping someone would know someone in ny, nj or ct

gus is a character his foster family misses him so he kept them on there toes as he will with corey

hugs and may you have many years of joy and fun together

  3. first sending hugs

our morty was 13 when he was diagnosised no chemo or amputation he lived 4 months his was very rapid and he was an awful eater even before he got sick so we couldnt do much

saullie our miracle boy diagnosised no chemo or amputation just high doses of artiminsin, no carbs and lots of love

one year, even osu was amazed by him

what helped us the most was an email i got

better a day to soon then a day too late

we miss our boys so much it was a year in december since we lost morty and june 19 will be a year for our saullie

    it still hurts

  4. yes gg has a grey that was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. she is doing fabulously

her family has her on cosequan, the vet said to keep her weight down

the vet said she could develop arthritis down the line

gg tracked down one of her littermates and he has hip dysplasia also

gg contacted the owner/breeder to let them know

her family says she runs a little funny

    hope this helps

if i can be of more help please let me know

  5. thanks everyone

we can use all the support we can get

after loosing morty saul and zie so close this is a little tougher

he has only been with us since june and he is a real character loves everyone, hugs, kissed and loves the throw his stuffies cross room and fetches them back to himself

paula it is good to hear that with no treatment piper lived another 2 years and especially since you didn't know when piper first developed it

  6. we took our boy to an onocologist today

for those of you who remember he had a growth on his skin turned out to be hemangiosarcoma

after xrays and sonogram showed no spread to internal organs

we decided to take him to an onoologist

his spleen is a tiny bit enlarged but no cancer at this point in the spleen

the oncologist was terrific, really nice, very knowledgeable knew all about osu etc

he had just come back from a big conference where he learned all the new studies on hmangiosarcoma stuff that isn't even published yet

there are 4 routes to decide

    1. do nothing

    2.chemo 5 treatments 3 weeks apart

3.oral chemo daily for at least a year

l4.ast chemo 5 treatments 3 weeks apart and oral chemo for 1 year the most aggressive of the treatments

if it stays on the skin average life span is 3 years if not then 18months

so we decided on option 4

his first chemo is jan 12 the good news is they chemo takes less then a 1/2 hour they blood test him and he is on a heart motinor the entire time

we felt really good about the dr. really nice down to earth

when i asked him what he would do if it were his dog

he said "don't go by me i am nuts with my animals"

    really liked that answer

as we were leaving we bumped into someone who had 2 greyhounds one was diagnosised with the same 4 years ago and no recurrence

and his grey is now 14.5

    thanks for listening
