  1. Lost my little girl, my heart dog to Osteo. Sorry still to emotional to write much more through the tears. Love and miss my girl so much!
  2. Any greysitters in the Houston area? My husband and I are flying out of Houston. 11/12/09-11/16/09. I have 3 greys but my 2 boys can stay at the bed and biscuit. I am looking for someone who could watch my little girl. She is 7 and was recently diagnosed with SLO which is under control but b/c of it her vet does not want to vaccinate now and put her immune system into overdrive. Her vaccines were due on Oct 19, 2009 and are considered overdue. Her normal boarding facilty will not accept her. My vet said she could stay at the clinic but all they have are metal cages and I can't do that to her. If anyone grey sits or knows of any greysitters in the Houston area please let me know.
  3. I must have weird dogs b/c all 3 love the longevity. It does create a green gooey mess in their food. I mix it in with 1/6 canned food, 2 tablespoons of plain fat free yogurt and a little warm water in their kibble. My 5 and 7 yr old also get fresh factors and my spooky girl also gets stress free calmplex.
  4. The last few days I noticed Spencer favoring one leg, not a limp but a difference in gait that only a mother would notice Anyway then he started licking that paw and at first I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary but this morning as my big mommas boy was draped on top of me I noticed he is losing hair on one toe and it seems really really scaly and when ever I touched that toe he flinched. Here are the best pictures I could take with my cheapie camera. (None of his other toes look like that. They are nice, fuzzy and smooth no scaly stuff. Here are the things I have thought of... infection, allergy (his allergies can get really bad and affect his feet) and even the beginnings of SLO. I am going to keep it clean and treat it at home in the next couple of days (I don't feel it merits an emergency vet visit this weekend) and reassess in the beginning of the week whether a vet visit is needed. Does anyone have any advice/opinions? Anyone with a dog that has SLO? How does it start, look like, ETC....?

    Genie's Gone

So sorry. Genie truly blessed all who had the pleasure of meeting her or just knowing about her.
  6. Good idea I'm in Shreveport Louisiana. Almost at the north end of Interstate 49 and 9 miles south of Interstate 20. I have 3 greys of my own and a large fenced in backyard. Email address sbledsoe4@hotmail.com If anyone knows of any grey sitters or grey savvy kennels in Austin Texas please let me know. MY DH and I will be traveling to Austin next month. As of right now we are staying at the La Quinta in Round Rock and dropping the furry kids off at the Petsmart petshotel during the day for daycare and picking them up at night.
  7. Welcome from northwest Louisiana
  8. Especially those that use Revolution and order from deadfleaz.com? Hoss has tapeworms. I have called around to the vets in the area including my regular one and they all require an office visit, fecal to make sure it's tapeworms (which I already know it is) and then the dewormer. Some even require you to buy flea prevention from them if they treat your dog Anyway I'm not trying to be cheap but I really don't have $100 or more to just throw away on rip off veterinarians. I was using Revolution on Sally and Spencer until Sandy Paws ( I switched back to frontline for ticks at Sandy Paws and heartgaurd in March) but anyway revolution came with a dewormer called Canex multi spectrum dog wormer which is supposed to treat roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms. I never gave it to them but still have it and it doesn't expire until 10/2010. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of it or used it? Or is it something grey safe? It's made by Pfizer. (each tablet contains 143mg pyrantel embonate, 543mg oxantel embonate, 50mg praziquantel)
  9. I'm so sorry. My heart is hearting. Flecka was such a beautiful special girl and Sally's friend. Big hug and prayers for you and your family.
  10. Just seeing this. I am so sorry Gail. Sending prayers.
  11. I agree with everything that has been said. Now you have to be Peatie's rock and be strong for him and we are all here to be yours and give you strength.
  12. Bumping again. Still needing the dosage and can't find any reference to dosage given in capsule form in any post or on the net. Xan's inbox is still full so I have not been able to send a PM.
  13. I tried to send Xan a PM but her inbox is full
  14. *Bumping* Just wondering if anyone knows the dosage for the bee propolis? After searching post I can't find any mention on the capsule dosage and noticed it comes in several dosages. Also is it something I can buy in a local store or internet order only?
  15. I looked up bee propolis and saw that it comes in pill form but in different dosages. Do you have any more info on it?
  16. I recently accompanied a friend of mine who brought her rabbit in for a tumor removal to the local Banfield pet hospital in Petmart and really liked what I saw. I really liked the verterinarian. She definitely seemed greyhound savy and answered all my questions right. After further research and adding up how much I have spent in a year alone on just vaccines and dentals it seems like a really good cost effective value especially since both my children are due for dentals in the next month or so. Another appealing benefit is that if you happen to be traveling with your pet and need an office visit you are able to go to any Banfield in the area. It's definitely less than pet insurance and there are no deductibles. They don't have after hours emergency service but neither does my current vet so I would still have to go to the local emergency clinic if needed. Anyway I'm just wondering if anyone uses their local Banfield pet Veterinary Hospital or heard any good or horror stories?
  17. My girl has the rings. I brought her to several different vets and an eye specialist who all told me it was cholesterol deposits in the eye and nothing could really be done for it. The last vet I saw said that it can be controlled with diet. I put her on a strict diet. Her dry food is 16.6% protein and 6% Crude fat. She was on Nutro Natural choice large breed before (26% protein and 12% fat.)She has been on the diet for two years now and her eyes are better. The rings are there but have not grown and the spots she was getting in the middle of her eyes are all gone.
  18. Everything went well the first two weeks in my house until 3 days ago when my husband walked into a crime scene. My normally totally mellow sweetheart has destroyed his kennel and got out and cut hs paw in the process and left blood all over the carpets. The next day since we didn't have a kennel he stayed in the front of the house and we came home to every mini blind in the living room destroyed and shredded, the wood on my front door all scratched up, my door knob chewed up and again this time he cut his mouth so we had blood all over the carpet again. He has an appointment this weekend to the vet for possible clonicalm and we went out and spent another $200 on a stronger reinforced kennel b/c we both have to go to work again today. So wish me luck. Also my dog has a smorgasbord of toys from, stuffies, squeaky toys, balls, nylabones, kong toys filled with food and even one of those smoked dinosaur bone looking things and he wants nothing to do with any of them in his kennel. I also leave the radio on for him.
