Newbie, be gentle

Newbie, be gentle (2/9)

  1. I must also say that there is no pattern to it. He could have two really long walks during the day and have company until midnight, and still whine during the night. And then there are instances where he doesn't whine at all after two short walks that day. Lately he has been whining more often (every night in past four nights).
  2. Hi all, We got our grey (called Jeff) back in November 2020 so had him for a while now. We live in a terraced house, i work nights (three/ four nights a week). Two people living in the house (the other person works normal days (five days). For a while now Jeff whines at night. For a time he stopped (couldn't see any reason why). Its a horrible sound (like chalk on a blackboard) and we are getting to the end of our tether. We don't usually come downstairs (Jeff sleeps on his bed in living room). When we do we let him outside for a wee, and he never wants to do one. He'll stand outside and wont want to come back in (we have to physically try and drag him back inside). When he comes back inside he won't get back on his bed and paces about a bit. We then go back to bed. We go to bed about 10pm and the whining usually starts from 3am onwards. When we come down in the morning Jeff is sleeping on his bed relaxed as if nothing ever happened. Don't have any trouble with him during the day (apart from issues with other dogs). We just have a small back yard (terraced house) and Jeff never wants does a number two there (only does wees). He'll only do it on grass for some reason. I thought that would be a possibility but in the morning hes never desperate. Has anyone else had a similar experience and could give advice? Thanks, Pendlelad1
