  1. Unfortunately, we have not found a vet that feels comfortable with performing the surgery. We are expected to here back from the vet college today or Tuesday. They feel they'll be able tell us if it's operable or not.
  2. It's dire here. They think the referral we have will take 2-3 months. I've left messages all over our province. I'm hoping someone will call back tomorrow. I have a phone call with my vet tomorrow to get more information. I have an appointment with a vet who specifically treats greyhounds.
  3. You're not being harsh. I'm in Nova Scotia. No vet in the province is taking on new patients. Our only option is the Veterinary College of PEI. Animals have died in my county and the surrounding counties waiting to be seen. I have 2 options. Wait for the referral and hope. Or euthanasia. But I don't know what we're dealing with. The vet can't tell me. I'm completely lost.
  4. She did actually and the severity of this has resulted from an initial misdiagnosis. My girl has struggled with arthritis and what was initially suspected as a hormone issue. The mass is pushing on her spleen. If you push along her spine she displays discomfort. It's like prying teeth to get information. Basically, she said she's not comfortable dealing with it and recommends the specialist to further investigate and give me the answers.
  5. We received news today that our 10 year old greyhound has a large mass in her abdomen. We live in a rural area so they cannot do anymore for her then the imaging tests. We are waiting for an appointment with a specialist. The mass is pushing on her bladder and bowel. She may not be able to defecate soon. Has anyone gone through this? Our vet has no advice for us. We are going to feed wet food to soften her stool but we don't know what else to do.
  6. Recently, my 9.5 year old greyhound was diagnosed with dementia. Our vet didn't have much advice for us. Things were better during the warmer months but now we're in winter and she's not doing so well. Some nights she wakes us up. She's shaking uncontrollably, pacing, panicking and she doesn't find us comforting. Any advice on how we can help her during these episodes would be greatly appreciated.
