  1. Hi all, many thanks for your responses, all very helpful and encouraging, we are going to try something that has been suggested to us which is when we get to a new place is to open the windows and just sit for five minutes so he can adjust to the new smells and sounds, fortunately he is very good with sounds and isn't frightened by any noises which is great, so as said we will keep persevering and hopefully he will adjust. Thanks again
  2. Hi, We have had our 4 year old rescue ex racer for 10 months, when we go out to a new location on holiday ( he travels really well and loves being in the van ) when we get there ( beach, village, woodland ) he is very anxious and will not settle ie pulls on the lead, pants, just wants to get away, will not stay in one place. Does anyone have any experience of this or be able to offer any advice ? Thanks, Reg
  3. Hi Zachary, thanks for the article much appreciated, we will get there with him in time, he is worth all heartache, when he smiles we do !
  4. Hi Heyrundog, thanks for the reply, at the moment he is reacting to all dogs ( even other greyhounds ) but yes hopefully in the future we will be able to walk him with his own kind ( and others )
  5. Hi, just joined the forum. We are based in the UK and have had our rescued ex racer greyhound for nearly 6 months ( he is our 7th rescue dog, but 1st greyhound ) he has been doing really well in the main, ie getting used to a house environment, meeting new people, and was really good around other dogs, unfortunately about 2 weeks ago when out for a walk another dog who was friendly but over enthusiastic tried to jump on his back, initially our dog was ok but the next day he became quite aggressive to other dogs ( bark, snarl and lunging ) and has been so ever since, we have spoken to our behaviorist who feels he is now frightened of other dogs and so we are keeping a distance as much as possible from other dogs when out walking, but letting him see them, wearing high vis " give my dog space " tabards etc, has anyone else any experience of this and if so how long it may take for him to overcome this new fear. Thanks for any advice. Reg and Annie
