  1. My Frasier was on phenobarb for over a year for his seizures. It did control them very well. But the hunger was always there, he was ravenous at every meal and he got a little bit chubby. We worked out a fine balance between it all, but it did take some working on since I also have 6 other dogs. I had to contain him alone for food or else he'd wolf his food down and move on to the next dogs's bowl! He was also on prednisone for SLO so he was always thirsty as well and he was ALWAYS thristy, and I cannot tell you how often he drank my soda or iced tea or coffee! Gosh I miss him so much!

  2. There's a gal on here from Cincinnati whose greyhound had her tail amputated due to cancer. I know her dog Grey had chemo after the amputation and I think she did pretty well. I can't think of her user name here, might be something like Ohmygrey or ohmyability but I'll see if I can find her for you. Ok, it's omyability look her up and send her a PM, I'm sure she'll be happy to share her experience with you.

I hope your girl heals up quickly and the biopsy is something not so bad.

  3. My ramp for the dogs is a little longer, but it's higher too. It's built in, wood and as wide as normal stairs would be, with a house on one side and a rail on the other side. I have indoor outdoor carpeting on our ramp. But over the last 4 years, I've had to replace it once. I used just plain finishing nails to hold it down. It's not been a real problem at all. All my dogs use the ramp, it's been a lifesaver!

  4. I have a 14 year old gal who has been having trouble making through the night (or through a long day if I'm not home) since she was about 11 or 12. No UTI, no nothing except she's getting old. I bought some of those washable bed pads (for humans, like they use in the hospitals) on Ebay. She uses them without fail and they have been a real lifesaver for both of us. I don't sleep well as it is, and if I had to get up in the middle of the night to take her out I would never get enough sleep, and she doesn't have to be upset for peeing on the floor. I bought enough so I could go about 5 days and then do a load (large front loader) and have 2 extra for the night that her pads are drying, probably 12 or 14 of them.

We tried the disposable ones and you'd be amazed at how many pieces a greyhound can tear one of those into!!!!
