  1. I am so sorry for your loss!

I adored the pictures you took of her; she had a special style and charisma that shone through all those photographs.

    Please accept my sincere condolences.

  2. I am an RN.

I would suggest a 25 gauge 5/8" needle. That would be plenty long enough considering that greyhound skin is thin and they don't have a lot of subcutaenous fat either. What is the preferred location for such an injection? The back of the neck or shoulder? These seem to be the easiest places to properly pick up a pocket of skin to ensure the injection actually winds up in the space under the skin.

  3. Gentle scritches to your hounds!

One woman angrily yelled at me "that dog needs some steak!" as she flew by on her bike. No chance for education there!

I hope your sign is taken seriously and your concerned neighbours allow themselves to be educated. Maybe you could add some pictures of healthy greyhounds so they could compare. I think there was a picture of a genuinely underweight greyhound somewhere on this site - now that was truly heartbreaking!

  4. What a mystery!

Your location is not listed. Do you live in an area that might have snakes, large insects or unusual wildlife that is coming out of hibernation? Was it dark outside? Do you live in an urban or rural situation (thinking groundhogs, racoons, rats, porcupines)? If she was near a shed perhaps something quickly crossed her path and startled her.

Is Molly old enough to consider doggie dementia?

  5. We used sugar right up to the 70's and then it fell out of favour. In the last couple of years I have been seeing a lot of use of Medi-Honey on humans. it is being prescribed by physicians, enterostomal therapists and chiropodists mainly for ulcers with infection. It does seems to induce a lot of drainage initially but as the infection clears, the drainage decreases.

BTW, we advise our human patients to ensure they get protein at every meal and supplement with zinc and vit C to promote wound healing. Would love to know the vet perspective on this as it applies to hound healing.
