  1. It's been seemingly a long time since I've posted, but of course it's a frustrating problem that drives me back.

For about two weeks, Enza has been on a bland diet. She was sedated and that seems to have thrown her off. After a round of flagyl and homemade bland food (potatoes, chicken, etc), she firmed up and I started transitioning her back to kibble (Nature's Domain Salmon and potato which she has been perfect on for years). But she went from sort of firm to almost liquid in two day. Called the vet and we went for another round of Flagyl, added back in the probiotic that I was remiss in giving with every meal, and tried the I/D canned.

That was Sunday and perfect poops for two days. So I added in a 1/4 cup of her kibble to start the transition again...and her poop this afternoon was once again trending soft and a bit of mucus. I admit it's been almost four years (lucky me!) since I've had to do this.

So...did I start the transition to early? Is this normal and she will adjust since it's been so long without kibble? Or is it time to switch foods after three years.

And that of course leads to the whole issue of "what kibble now"....

  2. For the first time in the six years I've hard her, Enza was put under anesthesia for an MRI on Wednesday. She came out of it fine and by last night was back to her happy, stuffie shredding self. However, she is needing to pee a lot more despite not drinking. She needed to go out every two-three hours all through the night and I am exhausted.

Is this just normal after anesthesia?

  3. I would think spraying some of the items with a good flea spray with IGR (that stops their ability to reproduce) can take care of most of it. I also think that things that are above the floor should be good. I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but the eggs etc fall off the dog so I can't imagine how they would get into your clothes at this point. But I could be wrong.

As for a spray, try ones by Virbac that you can get on amazon. My vet sells it and has the IGR in it.

  4. I just wrapped up my annual family reunion which included Enza and I making three round trips to my parents house (1.5 hours each day), hanging out with 30 people all day yesterday and an overall disruption to our lives. Enza was a trooper dealing with a ton of kids, lots of noise and only stole one roll (that I saw). And she did receive a lot of treats from me.

This morning, she threw up around 4:30 in the morning, but was fine on our morning walk (8:00) and quite perky. Normal bowel movement and ate all of her breakfast. I went to meet everyone for breakfast and between 11 and 1, she threw up two more times. I took her out again and she was fine - just moving slow.

I am leaning towards stress, food she was probably fed that I didn't know about, etc but is there anything I can do or should do? Pepcid, skip dinner? Panic?

  5. I've been dealing with mild flea issue with Enza. Will be buying Capstar and switching to Advantage as Frontline clearly isn't working anymore for us. I've been spraying her beds, etc with Adams Plus with IGR that I had from a few years ago and the bottle is getting empty. I went online to buy some more...and I think they changed their product. The ingredients are no longer the same so I was curious if anyone has bought a bottle very recently and had good luck with the spray that was okay to use on the dogs and their beds. I am nervous about buying anything new so recommendations are lovely as well.

  6. I just found one on Enza too (just one - no dust or eggs) and went a wee bit crazy cleaning the house and using the Adams Flea/Tick mist on the beds, rugs, sofa. The beds don't fit into my washer so will drag them all to the laundrymat this weekend. I had frontlined her two months and did do it this morning.
